The 2026 season of the Festival remembered September 11th with the artwork "Trying to remember the color of the sky on that September morning" which accompanied the world premiere of @william.susman's "Clouds & Flames" - a meditation on loss, remembrance, and rebirth. This artwork is on permanent display at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.

Some of my favorite shots from the Chelsea Music Festival @cmf_nyc this past June! Many thanks to @kendavidmasur and @theleetrio3 for a special time, and to @william.susman and @grigorysmirnovmusic for writing such beautiful music. It was also pretty mind-blowing to see myself on a Times Square billboard 🤯

This time in NYC gave us many moments to reflect on our collective years in this great city, and marvel how our mom and relatives came through all kinds of ports of entry into this country, with nothing but a single suitcase in their hands. We surely stand on the shoulders of all those who came before us to build a life better than what they knew in their homelands. We hold the gift of living in a democracy with gratitude and delicacy, and know we cannot take for granted the freedom of being able to speak up, to vote, to advocate for others and ourselves.

These months leading up to July 4th have been filled with God’s grace and encounters with composers and musicians whose stories of courage, strength, and resilience, have moved and inspired us. Thank you to everyone at the Chelsea Music Festival for making space to uplift voices and make Every Story Count. It was an honor to play the works of Libby Larsen, Damien Sneed, Steven Ward, J. E. Hernández, Ania Vu, Tania León, Grigory Smirnov, William Susman, and some Aaron Copland & Beethoven too! Also so moving to see Derek Fordjour’s mural and sculptures on the High Line, where he explores archtypes of Black figures in American culture, and the convergence of both jubilant showmanship and the intense physical & psychological demands placed on Black performers.

Happy 250th America! We didn’t light any sparklers but took a family field trip to see our trio light up one of the billboards in Times Square NYC! ✨🚕🗽

Two old guys sitting around talking last night. The third takes a picture. A great hang. I wrote this song when I turned 50. It’s still true at 69 1/2. @william.susman @stevezelinger

Seven Hills CMF Season 5 photos, part 1.

A special shoutout to @n.brancato for being a great co-director & business partner. 🤩

We had so many people supporting us this season to make a truly wonderful festival, and I’m proud of how much we’ve grown! Highlights include hosting our first gala, welcoming Luke Currie of “A Little Day Music” on WVTF and “All Things Considered” on Radio IQ as our opening night emcee, and presenting 26 artists from 8 different countries in 4 concerts, 12 of whom are from or currently live in Virginia.

All of our concerts were (and will continue to be) free to attend, and audience turnout smashed previous years. I’m excited to see what’s next!
