It’s Never Just White Type.
For LOGAN, Creative Director @william_lebeda talks about the opening sequence and the use of western typography; finding the right look for this broken hero. Teaming up with @fronmillerdesign, LOGAN was Picturemill’s 2nd film for the Wolverine character and Director James Mangold.

“This has more in common with Shane and Unforgiven than The Avengers. A modern movie that’s more like a Western.”

Happy New Year and Congratulations to @sonicmovie! In our 3rd Mains on End with Sonic, we evolved just as that film did. Inspired by SEGA‘s 1996 game “Sonic the Fighters.” we moved away from the 8bit look and into 16bit 3D territory.

With a combination of Maya, AE, and Blender, we modeled, rigged and character animated Team Sonic into a custom designed “hyper” environment. This was a super fun project for us as we got to animate Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow and the Chao’s, as well as a Robotnik Mech Crab ship, Eclipse Cannon Weapon and a kick ass motorcycle.

@fowltown , Neal Mortiz and Toby Ascher gave us freedom on the first 2 films and again on this third. They are incredible supportive filmmakers to work with, which we appreciate more than ever.

We’ll post some BTS and storyboard comparison edits in the coming days.

Wishing you all the best!

It’s finally happening, we’re actually going to talk about opening credits on @openingcredits 😱

So, if you’re one of the few people who have been sorely disappointed that this podcast isn’t actually about title sequences, today’s your lucky day!

We’re joined in this episode by @william_lebeda, Creative Director of @picturemillla, the studio behind some of the most memorable movie and tv show intros, including ‘Panic Room,’ ‘Sonic the Hedgehog,’ and ‘Transformers One.’

William, alongside Executive Producer David Midgen, talks us through the process of making the iconic opening credits for @succession, and how it was more hands-on than you might think. He also gives his honest opinion on the controversial ‘Skip Intro’ button (which is changing the game for title design) and tells us about his dream day on set working with everyone’s favourite fuzzy friends, The Muppets.
