Summer afternoons at @benzigerwinery ☀️ If you haven't had the chance to visit and sip, wander and pet the miniature highland cows, you're missing out! Also, Benziger is fully biodynamic certified, making it an even better place to visit and support. One of my favorite places to shoot.

Ever wondered how that rich, deep color and bold flavor come to life in your favorite Cabernet Sauvignon? It's thanks to a winemaking process called pump-overs (or rémontage).

Imagine fermenting juice being pumped from the bottom of the tank to the top, breaking the cap of skins and seeds floating on top (created by CO2 which is a byproduct of fermentation).

This not only intensifies the wine's color and flavor, but also keeps bacteria at bay! Right now, our Cab is rocking a gorgeous deep ruby hue and smells absolutely divine. We can't wait to share it with you all! 🍇🍷

Terroir! Is it real or is it a winemaking myth? I don’t think you can question that the soils in the reel are different. (Go back and watch again.) Each soil has distinguishing characteristics. To make it a bit easier on you, I’ll describe two soils for you to choose from.
.
1- With a more homogenous climate than other parts of Napa, the region produces fruit able to reach full ripeness with that all important acid structure intact. The rocky, infertile slopes provide the perfect level of stress for the vines, forcing strong root system to dig deep.
2- The well drained soil is a composition of gravel, loam and sand with volcanic and marine sediments from the Franciscan Assemblage.
.
“Each vineyard site has a story to tell and communicating these stories is a great source of passion for producing our TORCIA wines. The hard work of capturing a wine’s sense of place is a year-round endeavor and every one of us has a level of intimacy with each vineyard and the desire to showcase its individuality.”
