Awnings are the mod most people buy twice. The cheap one first, then the one they should’ve bought. Our new guide is here to save you the first purchase.

The honest bit up front, the right awning depends entirely on how you actually camp. Move every day and you want something light you can throw out solo at a lunch stop. Basecamp for four nights and coverage and wind stability matter more than pack size.

We’ve drafted a write-up that compares all the types and top players in South Africa, it’s worth ten minutes before you spend the money. Link in bio 🔗

Squad game strong 💪🏼

This past weekend was our first time out at Merino and it didn’t disappoint. The camp-site combines open spaces for vehicle-based camping with an undercover braai and seating area. There’s also a nearby shower, toilet and wood-fired hot tub for those interested.

Nestled deep in a rock gully, near the foot of a seasonal waterfall, the local wildlife includes many a bird species, dassies and the occasional troop of baboons.

All in all, it’s one you’ll want to chalk up on that list of places to go✍🏼
