I am a BLACK WOMAN!
I create! I don’t tear down other BLACK WOMEN! I have felt the pain of being torn down so I have decided to be proactive in building others up. All too often, us women tear each other down, instead of building each other up. Everyone is going through something that we can’t see.
With all the negativity around let’s do something positive! Upload a photo of yourself...only you, then nominate other inspiring black women to do the same.
Please don’t be offended if I haven’t tagged you, I can’t tag everyone. This post says black women, simply because black women are carrying a heavier load and need lifting up.

When women support each other, incredible things happen. 🖤

Thank you @beverleyknight for nominating me. ✨I am a BLACK WOMAN! I build! I don’t tear down other BLACK WOMEN! I have felt the pain of being torn down so I have decided I will be deliberate about building others up too. All too often, we women find it easier to criticise each other, instead of building each other up. Everyone is going through something we can’t see. With all the negativity around let’s do something positive! Upload one photo of yourself...only you, then tag other women to do the same. Let’s build ourselves up instead of tearing ourselves down. Please don’t be insulted if I don’t tag you...I’m claiming baby brain 🙃 Also no pressure to repost 💕💓

Thank you to @bazaaruk @harpersbazaarus @bridgetmarch for including me with these phenomenal women in the beauty industry. I’ve been in this industry for 20 years and have often felt silenced and like I have had to bite my tongue. I have written for amazing titles over the years, on things I’m passionate about and I’m very proud of. However, it’s not since Instagram, social media and the past few years that my voice has developed and been truly heard. I feel I can speak about diversity instead of begging titles to include a deep conditioner in a nod to my 4C coils in a longer article about haircare. I now ask for a mix of models with darker skin to be included in my pieces, as colourism is a real issue. Light skinned ‘black barbie’ looking models with weaves who don’t have my nose, lips, hair, curvy body type are often used to represent all POC and that’s not good enough. We all can speak up and demand more and ask for better practices. Don’t be scared to be seen as difficult, don’t be scared to seem political (I have lost out on many panel and speaking engagements for this reason) - SPEAK UP and use your VOICE. Thanks again @bazaaruk https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/beauty/gmp32762994/black-beauty-voices-instagram/ 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 #racism #blm #equality #diversity #georgefloyd
