On September 2nd, IWEHA conducted a community outreach in Shyira Sector under the campaign “Her Health, Her Dignity: Understanding and Managing Menstruation with Confidence.”

We engaged 118girls in interactive sessions on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and breaking myths around periods, while also encouraging open dialogue to promote confidence and dignity.

Alongside pads distribution, we introduced manual period-tracking calendars (a practical, offline alternative to mobile apps) empowering girls without phones or internet access to better understand and manage their cycles.

The day ended with a Q&A and messages of empowerment reminding every girl that menstruation is normal, healthy, and nothing to be ashamed of.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this outreach possible, with special appreciation to @ughe_org community for their unwavering support.

Together, we continue to build a community where girls can embrace their health with knowledge, dignity, and confidence.

When asked what should replace Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the answer isn’t another harmful tradition—it’s empowerment through knowledge. ✨ Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) gives girls the tools they need to make informed decisions, protect their bodies, and pursue their dreams. With CSE, communities break the cycle of harmful practices and unlock a future where every girl thrives.

FGM cannot offer this kind of liberation, but education can!

Check out these powerful moments from Day 2 of the Girls Empowerment and Safety Program (GESP), where we’re building a brighter, safer future for girls, supported by UNFPA Nigeria. 💪
