“I thought, ‘I’m home, […] Because in my life I wasn’t partaking in what everyone else was partaking in I felt different […] Then I found myself in a room full of people who, for varying reasons, where the same. […] Whatever it was they were in that room and they were full of ideas and that’s what I was looking for – ideas, people who were interested in kicking around some thoughts instead of letting things get blurry.”

Who else but Ian MacKaye would sum up our feelings about our second Rites of Spring?

It wasn’t just our expectations that were already high after 2025; which honestly felt three years ago, given everything that went into this one. And still: when the bands, helpers, old friends and new friends all landed in Kafe Kult on Friday and Saturday, it was all worth it. There’s nothing sweeter than music and a caring community at what felt like 78% humidity and 37°C.

Thanks again to everyone who was a part of Rites of Spring 2026, onstage & offstage.

Wer erinnert sich noch an das Wetter am 12. September 2016? Wir schon. Das war ein warmer Spätsommerabend. Und das bisher letzte Mal, dass wir so ein richtig waschechtes „Isar-Konzert“ veranstaltet haben, mit Black Oak und Hello Piedpiper damals. Dann kamen noch Gastspiele in den Maximiliansanlagen, am Odeonsplatz und im Prinze - und immer wieder Sommerregen, Sommerregen, Sommerregen...
Aber mehr als zehn Jahre sollen’s nicht werden. Hier kommt der Revival-Plan: Am 26. August bringen wir zwei Acts aus dem fernen Australien und eine München-Entdeckung an den Isarbaum bei der Wittelsbacherbrücke. Wie in den wildern Zehnern. Falls ihr Sonnentänze drauf habt: Nur zu! Hier kommen so lange die Details:

an der Isar unterm Baum, nördlich der Wittelsbacher Brücke | Bus 58, 68, 132 Baldeplatz, U1/U2 Kolumbusplatz | Eintritt frei, Spende für die Musiker*innen erbeten | Getränke-Grundstock von innen.aussen.raum, eigene Verpflegung mitbringen ebenfalls erlaubt. Vergesst auch die Picknickdecken nicht!

PS: die Option schlechtes Wetter oder nasse Wiese wird besprochen und sobald der Wetterbericht klarer ist bekanntgegeben.
Solange hört doch mal in unsere tollen Musiker:innen ein und stimmt euch auf den Spätsommer ein!

Hello y’all! We’re back with @ritesofspringfest at @kafekult this weekend (08.–09.05.) and honestly, we’re really excited, a little nervous, and can’t wait.

Rites Of Spring Fest is probably the most beautiful thing we’ve put together so far, and it would really mean the world to have you there again.

Booking this year’s edition took me months and almost drove me nuts, so I’m even happier to have all of these incredibly talented bands on stage.

There is also gonna be a ROS Tape Sampler, Real/Fake Emo Socks & a super sweet shirt you can buy at the fest 👀

better late than never: a warm thank you to everyone who came out to our small festival in january, to celebrate underground music and DIY culture 🤍
we were blessed with a fun evening, amazing bands and a sweet attentive and dance-hungry crowd!

a huge thanks to @onyon_band, @hatehyphendash, @fis.band, @milocollep, @seaweatherband and @rose_emma_music for their passionate work and creating an intimate atmosphere throughout the whole evening.

CoreChaos began in 2020 as a Munich music blog before becoming something more: a DIY collective throwing gigs to fill a void they felt in the city’s cultural life.

Starting with screamo, the programme has sprawled from folk to noise to dance music, sombre and sensual, radical in its expression, raw and refined, to quote the crew. Rooted in the values of DC (Post-)Hardcore, CoreChaos runs a pay-what-you-can ticket system built on solidarity: if you have the means, pay your dues. From the cornerstones of DIY-spaces in Munich like Kafe Marat & Kafe Kult to a wealth of shows Blitz Club’s dancefloor.
Their aim has been to open space for emotion, connection, and the purifying effects of cultural catharsis, whether that’s screaming, dancing, or staring at the ceiling. Now the crew returns to Blitz Club for an in-depth listen of their eclectic yet deep-blue tinted influences.

The record skips but it knows all the words: CoreChaos returns to Blitz, not for a floorshow this time, but for something slower and more deliberate: a deep dive into the deep-blue tinted sounds, influences and obsessions that have shaped our shows, on THAT soundsystem in THAT room. A handful of sets from crew members and friends, tracing a path through Slowcore, Folk and Noise, Wave and Outsider Electronics, Hip-Hop and Electronica and beyond, possibly a blastbeat or two and perhaps some Real and Fake Emo too. We’ll find out together.
Free admission, donation-based entry. Come by for a couple of vinyl sides, a drink, and a whole evening of staring at the ceiling.
