Calling all Kentuckians who love to dance! 💃🏾
You are invited to join us for a truly brilliant afternoon filled with culture, movement, and Día de los Muertos Celebration!

In partnership with the WKU Dance Program, WKU Society, Culture, Crime, and Justice Studies, and Ballet Folklórico ArteMex, we will be hosting a Free Community Workshop on Folklórico! 🌹

This Saturday, October 17th, 2026 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm CST at Van Meter Auditorium on WKU’s Campus, take part in a Free movement workshop hosted by Ballet Folklórico ArteMex for all skill levels, followed by a mini performance and Q&A with the incredible dance team.

Ballet Folklórico ArteMex is a cultural dance company based in Louisville, KY, founded in 2024 by performers with decades of experience, including stages like Mariachi USA and Ballet Folklórico Nuevo Jalisco. Directed by Ruth Ramirez, this company offers folklórico and social dance classes (Zumba, Huapangos, Cumbia, Wepa, Salsa and more) for all ages. More than dance, Artemex promotes personal growth, community, and culture, and also imports handcrafted artisan goods from Mexico, bringing tradition into everyday fashion. Ballet Folklorico ArteMex is available for performances, private events, and cultural showcases. Join them as they celebrate heritage, build confidence, and move with purpose.

Event Schedule:
- 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm CST Introduction and Movement Session

Grateful does not even begin to describe all of what I am feeling after my third @ndeodance conference.

I've always left this conference feeling hopeful and inspired by the field of dance education and now I'm proud to be part of that inspiration for others.

I was so privileged to share my experience and research alongside @reigncapers (my fellow red head) and receive such wonderful feedback from so many people I already look up to and respect in this field.

I'm so excited to see where this journey continues to take us as, in the words of Pat Cohen, 'the future of jazz dance'!

I am so proud to represent @wku_danceprogram and continue the work I started in undergrad.

None of this would've been possible without the support and encouragement of my professors and @wkuhonors

I was so happy to share this experience with current WKU senior @carrollann.shackleford as she attended her first conference

3 years ago my goal was to present research in a conference session and I'm so happy to have accomplished that goal this year.

I'm so excited to see what this conference will bring over the next year!
