We’ve all heard the adage, “Once a dancer always a dancer,” and we could not agree more! Whether a dance degree results in a career on a performance stage, in the classroom, or around a boardroom table, the rigor of a dance degree fosters critical and creative skills that make dancers greatly sought after in the professional world. Dancers achieve incredible success in any career field! Join us in this ongoing series of celebrating our WKU Dance Program Alumni - they are out there doing amazing things & we are so proud of all of their accomplishments! . . . #wkudanceprogram #danceonthehill #creatingthinkingartists @wku @wkuadmissions @wkutheatredance @wkupcaldean @caboni @hampton_pt @jadeprime @lind.eliz by @wku_danceprogram

What a fabulous way to groove into the weekend! On Friday, October 9th, the WKU Dance Program and the WKU Jazz Band performed together at the FAC Colonnades with some swinging tunes and rhythms! Jazz Band director Dr. Sarah Herbert and senior dance major Cadence Carr collaborated for this exciting performance that featured several dance students tapping along to select tunes played by the jazz band. The student experience and connections to a variety of artists in the field is a continuing priority for the WKU Dance Program! The DANC360 Dance in Culture course is a Colonnade course at WKU that is a focused survey of global dance forms, emphasizing social, cultural and aesthetic principles defining these forms. We had such an amazing time with WKU Theatre & Dance Alumna Shyama Iyer. She Zoomed in for a Classical Indian Dance and Bharatanatyam lecture. We loved having a discussion and movement session with Shyama! We are so grateful for the time, especially as she continues her PhD at Yale! This class was made possible by the support and sponsorship of the Mahurin Honors College - Honors Faculty Engagement Grant, in connection with the Honors Dance in Culture course. We could not be more grateful for their support of #danceonthehill. . . . #wkudanceprogram #creatingthinkingartists @wku @wkuadmissions @wkutheatredance @caboni @shyama.music.theater by @wku_danceprogram
