The Victor Gets to Write History.

@wolffrunner finally made his way over to The Keifer Madness Podcast.

Sometimes you realise you’ve recorded something and release day comes and you’re like… “oh yeah, this one… I wonder if this will annoy people”… then you release it and it does.

The news cycle has moved on, but perhaps it’s worth thinking about the culture of trail + ultra in a time when this recent feud, and others like it, can happen.

What is this mysterious “culture”?
Why is it worth protecting?
Does it matter how we operate online?
Does the online world just create a feeling of tribalism?
Does what happens online show up during interactions at the trailhead and races with fellow trail runners?
Does anyone really care or is it much ado about nothing?

Wolfie and Keifer were held hostage for the past four days by the Last Soul Standing Ultra.

We wanted to hop on and share our thoughts on the race, sing our praises of the production, and give Mark Dowdle his flowers for an inspiring performance.

The episode opens up some conversation on what we hope races stateside will take away from this weekend also, in hopes that we can see some of the culture that was cultivated makes it way to races here.

Two weeks ago, we gave you a glimpse.

Today, we're honored to share the full story.

Some finish lines are measured in miles.

Others are measured in the people who help you get there.

For Brian "Wolfie" Peterson, the Desert Peak Ultra wasn't just another race. It was his first true mountain 100K, a course filled with relentless climbs, unforgiving terrain, and more elevation than he had ever faced before. It demanded trust. Perseverance. The willingness to keep moving forward when every step became harder than the last.

But no one reaches a finish line like this alone.

Behind every mile was a family discovering a world they had never been able to experience before. A pacing crew giving everything they had. Friends who believed in the journey. And countless unseen moments that never appear in the race results.

We were privileged to witness it.

Throughout Brian's training, the Cikada Touring gave his wife and daughter the freedom to ride alongside him, transforming long training days into unforgettable family moments. On race day, our own Angelo joined Brian's pacing crew, while the Cikada Touring and City helped our film crew follow the action across the course, capturing a story that deserved to be told.

This isn't a film about e-bikes.

It isn't even about running.

It's about courage when the climb feels endless. It's about family choosing to share a journey that was once walked alone. It's about discovering that the greatest victories aren't always standing on a podium, but becoming the person you had to be to reach the finish line.

This is Brian's story.

Most people will never run 100 kilometers through the desert.

Most will never know what it feels like to keep moving when every step hurts.

But for Brian "Wolfie" Peterson, this is where he feels most alive.

This spring, we followed Brian into the Arizona desert as he took on the Desert Peak Ultra. Alongside him was Team Cikada, with Angelo joining his pacing crew, while our long-distance Touring and City e-bikes helped Brian's family and our film crew stay close enough to witness every unforgettable moment.

As Brian says, those rides have opened the door for his wife and daughter to experience this mysterious world with him in a way they never could before.

This isn't a film about finishing a race.

It's about chasing something few can explain.
