Earlier this summer, photographing Women Artists’ Art Week 2026 - opening with WAAW’s 5th anniversary celebration and continuing across a week of exhibitions, artist talks, studio visits, gallery tours, poetry and events around London. A wonderful programme bringing together women artists, curators, writers, galleries and the wider art community — and a pleasure to capture some of the people, conversations and spaces that made up the week. Congratulations to @annyasand and @waawworld on five years, and to everyone involved in this year’s programme. Thank you @woopnotgoop for organising an inspiring afternoon with Hettie Judah discussing How to Enter the Art World... After Session. @masonfifth Thank you to Heather Agyepong, Magda Kuca, Gabrielle Motola, sarah Pickering, Sara Sahores for talking about your incredible work! Following her new publication, renowned writer and curator Hettie Judah @hettiejudah will led a workshop as part of her After Sessions series, designed to debunk the art world and give practical and supportive insight into how it all works. Can you make it without going to art school? Can you get back into the art world after years away? What does 'success' actually mean? How to Enter the Art World... @hoxtonminipress is a grownup guide for any artist or creative whose life is complicated, demanding and well, human. Informed by years spent working with artists and with dozens of candid but anonymous interviews with art world insiders (naming no names!), it is a myth-busting bonanza full of insights, ideas and inspiration. Thank you @woopnotgoop for bringing together such a thoughtful and inspiring conversation with @amak_mahmoodian and @omfgnoway. It was a privilege to hear from Amak Mahmoodian, the award-winning Iranian multidisciplinary artist whose work explores memory, migration, identity, and belonging. Based in the UK since 2007, Amak's work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major collections including the Tate Modern and Victoria and Albert Museum. Her exhibition One Hundred and Twenty Minutes at 17 Midland Road was recently shortlisted for the 2026 Deutsche Börse Photography Prize. The discussion was expertly led by Charlotte Jansen, acclaimed arts journalist, photography critic for The Guardian, author of Girl on Girl and Photography Now, and curator of Discovery at Photo London. An evening of insightful dialogue on photography, storytelling, and the power of images to bridge personal and collective histories. Photo credit @allaphoto.art 🙌🏻

On Friday evening I chaired a conversation between these two legendary and inspiring women: @hannah.starkey123 and @maureenpaley We discussed their enduring relationship as artist and gallerist (almost 40 years!), the position and place of photography in the wider art market, and the importance of a sorority in the art world. Big thank you to @woopnotgoop x @waawworld Salon for arranging this talk and programme of events, and to Hannah and Maureen for being so open and generous with their views, thoughts and opinions 🙏🏼💪🏼 #womeninphotography #womeninart #whyphotographymatters #collectingphotography #woop

WAAW with us @masonfifth 4-10th of June! Mason & Fifth x WAAW World 2026 4 - 10 June | London At the heart of this year’s London programme, WAAW World takes over Mason & Fifth in Westbourne Park, transforming the space into a vibrant hub for cultural exchange. Through the first addition of WAAW-curated exhibition and immersive public programme, the venue becomes a living, breathing creative environment. Across the week, visitors can experience artist talks, spoken word, poetry, performances, DJ acts and hands-on art masterclasses open to all. Inviting both residents and the wider community to participate, the programme brings art beyond traditional gallery settings and into everyday life. This collaboration reflects a shared vision of urban living shaped by arts and culture creating a space where people can live, create, learn, and connect through a shared artistic energy. Our collaboration with @woopnotgoop hosts outstanding leaders of the art world HANNAH STARKEY, MAUREEN PALEY, BRANDEI ESTES, AMAK MAHMOODIAN, CHARLOTTE JANSEN, HETTIE JUDAH, FIONA ROGERS, AMI BOUHASSANE and DAFNA TALMOR! The Conservatory at Mason & Fifth will be transformed into an immersive, interactive exhibition space curated by Annya Sand and Alena Peschek. Titled Circle, the exhibition celebrates a powerful network of female artists who have continuously championed, inspired, and uplifted one another throughout their creative journeys. Drawing on the symbolism of the circle - unity, wholeness, protection, and continuity - the show explores the strength of collaboration and the enduring impact of community. Without a beginning or hierarchy, the circle becomes a metaphor for shared creative energy, mutual respect, and collective empowerment over competition. Through Circle, WAAW World aims to foster solidarity while echoing the long-standing tradition of women gathering to exchange knowledge, stories, and artistic expression within a safe and inclusive space. Featured artists include Dyana Gravina, Jo Guile, Alena Peschek, Tyreis Holder, Lydia Smith, and Daniella Celine Williams!
