Malaysia Day is just around the corner, and we will be welcoming it with our own celebration Rentak MalaysiaKu: Slice of Life!

Kicking off this weekend all the way to 16 Sep, it will feature exhibitions, performances, workshops, special activities, pop-ups, demos and screenings, all with the theme 'Slice of Life'.

If you haven't been to a pasar in a while, Rentak MalaysiaKu's pasar vibe will offer slices of Malaysia for you. With things like Rasa Pasar, Immersio 2026, A Slice of Malaysia, and many more, we hope you will be able to discover more about what really makes Malaysia, Malaysia.

There will also be plenty of grand openings - doki doki (our first stationery store!), a graffiti cafe, and Puzzle Planet amongst others. Of course, the usual weekend fare like the Saturday Storytelling Session and Darkroom Workshop Series are also available.

It's going to be great. Jumpa nanti!

This weekend at Rentak MalaysiaKu, you can sketch a moment, write a letter, share your work-in-progress in a writing circle, collect a few stickers along the way, watch some Bornean short films or maybe even get a (temporary) bunga terung tattoo.

We’ve curated a handful of special activities to help you slow down and experience the weekend in your own way, and at your own time. Some are quieter and more reflective, others are more communal. Discover for yourself what your slice of life is.

“September days have the warmth of summer in their briefer hours, but in their lengthening evenings a prophetic breath of autumn.” — Rowland E. Robinson

Whether you write poetry, prose, journal entries, or anything in between, join @wordsmithsofkuching for an evening of connecting through the written word ✍🏼✨

Months of planning, conversations and making have led us here, and we’re so excited to finally share the FULL programme for Rentak MalaysiaKu 2026: Slice of Life!

This year, we’re turning our attention to the everyday things that make up our Malaysia, our many little slices of life. The most beautiful moments are often the most ordinary ones, and as a multicultural nation, we are overflowing with stories, practices, food, movements, places and rituals that quietly shaped who we are.

You’ll find these stories woven throughout the programme. In cosy performances and lecture demonstrations, exhibitions that look at rivers, markets and everyday practices, hands-on workshops, and activities that invite you to make Malaysia Day your own.

So come spend the day learning something new. You could make something with your hands. You could even sit quietly, reflecting and taking it all in by journaling or live sketching, or find yourself clapping along to a performance.
