Fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignified retirements for over 60 years. #WyoUnionStrong

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hispanic heritage is woven into the history of the American labor movement. ✊🏽🇺🇸

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize the generations of Hispanic and Latino workers who organized, marched, went on strike, and stood together for dignity on the job.
From Emma Tenayuca and the San Antonio pecan shellers, to César Chávez and Dolores Huerta organizing farmworkers, their stories are part of a much larger labor story. Working people realizing the power they have when they stand together. Their struggles also remind us what solidarity really means. During the Delano grape strike, Mexican and Filipino farmworkers stood side by side. Different cultures. Different backgrounds. Same fight.

✊ When working people stand together, working people have power.

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! 🇲🇽🇵🇷🇨🇺🇩🇴🇬🇹🇸🇻🇭🇳🇨🇴🇻🇪🇺🇸

Every day, but especially on Labor Day, I am honored to have the endorsement of the Wyoming AFL-CIO. Union labor is why this country has 40 hour work weeks, overtime pay, safety in the workplace, paid leave, time off, child labor laws, and more. Wyoming honors hard work and we take great pride in being hard working people in our communities.

I also take great pride in my roots. My ancestors were union organizers that survived machine gun fire from the Rockefellers when they helped organize a strike in the Ludlow Mines. The Ludlow Massacre was the greatest massacre of American workers in our country’s history. My great-great grandmother had a bullet fly through the bun of her hair and my great grandmother recalled bullets flying over her as she laid in a trench. They lived in the company camp with my great-great grandfather.

On the other side of my family, my great-great uncle was named in the NY Times for being arrested for union organizing at a mine in Pueblo. He was an immigrant who spoke several languages, which made him a great asset to the cause. We can’t forget our immigrant brothers and sisters when we think about the railroads and other critical infrastructure that connected many of us.

I take this endorsement from the AFL-CIO to heart. Union organizing is in my blood and I am proud to continue the legacy of building power on behalf of the working men and women of this state. It’s my union sisters and brothers who have given me a political home this year.

Remember, the boss needs you – you don’t need them. And an injury to one is an injury to us all.

🇺🇸⚒️ ’TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE LABOR DAY ⚒️🇺🇸

’Twas the night before Labor Day, and all through the hall,
Not a steward was stirring, no grievances at all.
The hard hats were hung by the lockers with care,
In hopes that Liz Shuler soon would be there.

The workers were nestled, enjoying their night,
Dreaming of pensions and contracts done right.
When out by the jobsite arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Liz Shuler herself with a union crew near!
She carried no toys, no reindeer in flight,
Just fair wages, good benefits, and workers’ rights.

She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
Leaving contracts and raises for every hardworking jerk.
Then raising her fist as she walked out of sight:
“HAPPY LABOR DAY TO ALL, AND KEEP UP THE FIGHT!”

Here’s to the men and women who built this country, keep it running, and fight every day for a better future for the next generation.

Happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸⚡️
UNION STRONG. UNION PROUD. 💪

I am honored to be awarded the 2026 Friend of Labor Award by the @workersforwyoming affiliate of the @aflcio!

It has been an honor to fight alongside them to secure a governor’s veto on a bill brought by billionaires trying to bust the power of collective organizing of working class men and women.

My union brothers and sisters stood by me when we fought to save our public lands from sale by Senator Mike Lee.

Not many organizations want to award rabble rousers like me, but the union does because they know what fighting for the power of the people means — sometimes you gotta get a little rowdy. And it’s fitting that this is my first legislative award — my ancestors were union organizers at the Ludlow coal mines. They survived machine gun fire from the Rockefellers at the largest massacre of United States workers in history. My great great grandmother had a bullet fly through the bun of her hair.

All this is to say, I’m deeply honored, and I look forward to continuing the legacy of organized labor to build people power. Thank you @workersforwyoming for this great honor! ✊

I joined the AFL-CIO conference yesterday to support my working class brothers and sisters! It’s been an honor to work alongside them in securing a veto from the Governor that would have attacked public employee’s rights to spend their paychecks how they want when it comes to supporting their local union. We all believe that power is inherent in the people, but it’s our unions who work on building that power day in and day out. More big news coming from the AFl-CIO convening soon 😎

The labor movement grows one conversation at a time. It was an honor to speak with the leaders of the Wyoming State AFL-CIO Convention about how social media can help organize workers, share our stories, and inspire the next generation to join a union. Solidarity! 💪 #UnionStrong #AFLCIO #UnionTok #LaborMovement #Solidarity

☠️ NO VETO OVERRIDE 🚫 HB178 is DEAD ☠️

Statement from Marcie Kindred, Executive Director, Wyoming State AFL-CIO
On the defeat of HB 178 — March 11, 2026

Today, Wyoming’s working families won.

The national forces behind HB 178 thought this would be an easy win. States with higher union density and a much stronger labor presence have been unable to beat these same attacks. Wyoming — a right-to-work state with one of the smallest labor movements in the country — was supposed to be a layup.

They were wrong.

What outsiders don’t understand about Wyoming is that underneath the surface, aside from all of the political theater and national rhetoric, the heart of this state is still just one big neighborhood with long streets. And when one of our neighbors is stuck in a snow drift, Wyoming will always show up with a shovel.

That’s exactly what happened here. Trade workers and teachers. Miners and state employees. Pipefitters and retirees. Active union members and workers who have never carried a card. They set aside their differences, stood shoulder to shoulder, and told some of the wealthiest special interest groups in the country: not here. Not in Wyoming.

Had we all stayed in our corners, this bill absolutely would have passed without much fuss. Instead, thousands of Wyoming workers contacted their legislators, showed up at the Capitol, flooded the Governor’s office, and made their voices impossible to ignore. Governor Gordon heard them, and he did the right thing. The legislature (eventually) heard them, and today they upheld that veto.

We are grateful to every worker who made a phone call, sent an email, or had a hard conversation with a neighbor. We are grateful to the legislators from both sides of the aisle who stood with us. And we are grateful to Governor Gordon for his courage and his clear-eyed veto letter that called this bill exactly what it was.

This is just the beginning. The Wyoming labor movement is united, it is activated, and it is not going back to sleep.
An injury to one is an injury to all.
