Now that's how you do Labor Day. 🇺🇸

Huge thanks to everyone who came out to the Rock Springs picnic — you showed up, you brought the energy, and you brought a serious haul of non-perishable goods for the food bank.

Good food, good company, and the hardest-working people in this state all in one place. There's no better way to spend the day.

Every day, but especially on Labor Day, I am honored to have the endorsement of the Wyoming AFL-CIO. Union labor is why this country has 40 hour work weeks, overtime pay, safety in the workplace, paid leave, time off, child labor laws, and more. Wyoming honors hard work and we take great pride in being hard working people in our communities.

I also take great pride in my roots. My ancestors were union organizers that survived machine gun fire from the Rockefellers when they helped organize a strike in the Ludlow Mines. The Ludlow Massacre was the greatest massacre of American workers in our country’s history. My great-great grandmother had a bullet fly through the bun of her hair and my great grandmother recalled bullets flying over her as she laid in a trench. They lived in the company camp with my great-great grandfather.

On the other side of my family, my great-great uncle was named in the NY Times for being arrested for union organizing at a mine in Pueblo. He was an immigrant who spoke several languages, which made him a great asset to the cause. We can’t forget our immigrant brothers and sisters when we think about the railroads and other critical infrastructure that connected many of us.

I take this endorsement from the AFL-CIO to heart. Union organizing is in my blood and I am proud to continue the legacy of building power on behalf of the working men and women of this state. It’s my union sisters and brothers who have given me a political home this year.

Out in Southwest Wyoming this Labor Day? Come celebrate the folks who keep our state running. 🇺🇸

The Southwestern Wyoming Central Labor Council is hosting a Labor Day Picnic — all workers and their families welcome. Good food, good company, and a great community coming together to relax and celebrate the hard work that builds this place.

We've got the food covered — just bring a non-perishable item to donate to the food bank drive. Small thing, big difference for our neighbors.

What an event!

Thank you to everyone who made our Chili Cookoff such a success — the cooks who brought the heat, the tasters who packed the place, and everyone who chipped in for STRIDE Learning Center and Friends of Foster Families.

A special thanks to our local judges for lending their time and their taste buds:

A VERY special guest for the final drawing of 2026.

Ken Roylance has been the man behind the prizes for over 30 years. He secures the inventory, builds the prize calendar, runs every background check, and makes sure every winner gets what they won.

For an organization that knows the value of labor, his volunteer service does not go unnoticed. We are forever grateful to the man who helped make this dream a reality all those years ago, and for his unwavering commitment to the raffle and to Wyoming's labor movement.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Brother Roylance.
