Community Glassmaking Workshops in historic Hainault Forest, on the edge of East London

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday (Monday 17th March) was the Preview for FACE 2025. It was a lovely day. I met with my friend Emelie and we spent the day chatting, taking the Thames Clipper and then lunch at the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen.
The event started at 6:30pm and it was wonderful! There was such ‘Energy’ in the room (the fabulous Garrison Chapel near Sloane Square). So much wonderful work too! Accompanied by its creators. I am still reeling from the fact that my work there alongside everyone else’s!! It hasn’t sunk in. I guess this shows what a huge deal it was for me personally; that I am still grappling with it!
Tim Bates (a former fellow student at the City and Guilds of London Art School - no relation though 😊) also had his work displayed there for the second time. Congratulations mate! Plus when Emelie and I walked in, I was greeted by yet more Art School acquaintances: Roya, Richard and Ruben!! What a great evening! Thank you so much, and congratulations, to the Society of Portrait Sculptors including Marcus Cornish (who now hands over his President’s ‘mantle’) and everyone who made the event possible; including the hard working Suzie Zamit. I thoroughly recommend this exhibition which runs: 17-30 March from 11am-4pm (including weekends) and it has FREE ENTRY! 😊

It is very hard to articulate just how grateful I am to everyone who came to yesterday’s private view at the @museumofbrands.

I was overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and support.

Enormous thank you to everyone at the @museumofbrands. Paul, Alice, Alexis, Francesca, Ellie and the whole Team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

Enormous thank you to every single person who helped source the glass, donated glass, provided a listening ear.

Thank you to @laurenbotcha, @richard.foot and @hannahfaceyartist for the photographs 💞💕💞

From the bottom of my heart, thank you 💞💕💞

Exciting adventures ahead.

@laurenbotcha… I hope @corningmuseum is ready for us 💛💛💛

I’ve been ‘tinkering’ with glass blowing recently. Doing lots of watching (plus trying out watercolour pencils, in conjunction with pen sketches..) …AND some glass blowing (see images). Many thanks to Workinglass, at Hainault Forest: Sarah and Michelle (rough sketches attached), Tom. Cathy and David.
I would like to include glass in my practice, so I’m working on an idea….but I need to become much more proficient if I want to make the most of it as a skill…practice, practice, practice!! 😉✨

Before the holidays, we had a chance to join a homeschooling group and make beautiful glass dragon eggs. When I was a child, I remember my parents taking me to a glass-making factory, and I was amazed! I had always wanted to give it a try. So when I found out my 7-year-old could blow her own glass, I couldn’t say no!

I wrote about @workinglass , a community glassblowing project located in Hainault, East London, for @corningmuseum #newglassreview earlier this year so it was a pleasure to spend an afternoon with them. @saskiafretwell and I loved our workshop and were pretty pleased with our creations.
