@harrietsdreams want to thank everyone that showed up in solidarity with us at the @womensmarch Sister March in @visitwashingtondc today. When bodily autonomy is under attack @harrietsdreams will continue to Rise Up and Fight Back! Free Abortion on demand from DC to Madison!
Our freedom comes from movement, not courts. We were organizing before the Roe decision, we organized while it stood, and we will keep organizing now that it has fallen. The work continues... #biggerthanroe #roe50th #bansoffourbodies #reproductivehealth #reproductivejustice #reproductiverights #abortion #abortionrights #abortionbyanymeansneccessary #Wekeepussafe #harrietsdreams 📸: @focusonjosh

A word.

Because of racial capitalism & white supremacy, Black lives are consistently under attack.

As organizers, we know another way is possible.

Two weeks ago, we co-hosted Movement for Black Lives Money Pot event, Resourcing The Revolution: Money & My People.

There, BLMDC @blacklivesmatterdc organizer Kiki @fatfairygodmuva shared an alternative way of being, “we envision a world where money has no value. Where people are valued. Where our contributions to the world are valued.”

Money Pot supports organizers as they build new systems & new cultures. Donate to their fund as they work to tangibly show that #blacklivesmatter in Washington, DC www.patreon.com/dcm4bl

Yesterday was DAY TWO of @msfoc2020 and it was a RIDE, y’all. @dashaunlh read us a chapter from their forthcoming book (entitled ‘Belly of the Beast: The Politics of Anti-Fatness as Anti-Blackness’), @anarcho_cutie facilitates a panel w/ BLM organizers @fatfairygodmuva @kyrajisme & @leledediraerae (my faves!) AND @syddskyy delivered an amazing analysis re: black fat women portrayal in film & tv while @cheffresh82 (not pictured) was holding it down for food justice (without the side of healthism). YALL- I was FULL at the end of this day. Fat people are EVERYTHING. and don’t your forget it.

Did you attend the last Money Pot event? If not, here are the highlights!!!

• ”Racial capitalism,” the process of deriving value from the racial identity of others, harms the individuals affected and society.

• The Money Pot is a response to the conditions created by #racialcapitalism

• Since mid-2019, members of the DC Movement for Black Lives Coalition have been growing a local, no strings attached fund. People with resources put in what they can each month, and organizers can draw from the pot to meet their needs.

• There are many other groups thinking about how to resource the revolution such as @nojusticenopride @healersforliberationnetwork @peacehdc @resourcegeneration (DC)

• Building alternatives to capitalism is #healing because we are creating new ways of interacting with each other. It’s not just possible. It’s already happening.

• Join the next event in this series, this Thursday at 6:30 pm for small group discussions based on our class backgrounds.

Registration & breakout groups are in the bio. Fill out *BOTH* to register.

In partnership with Movement for Black Lives’ Money Pot, we are excited to announce the next event in the Money Pot's series on capitalism, class, and resource sharing:

Resourcing the Revolution: Money and My People

Thursday Oct 15th 6:30-8:30 EST

Register for the Zoom call (link in bio)

and choose a break out room (link in bio)

Please fill out *BOTH* forms to reserve your spot

The global pandemic has revealed that while we are all in the storm of capitalism, we ride in very different boats. Please join us on October 15th for small group discussions based on our class backgrounds-- to get clear on the ways capitalism is harmful to all of us, and the responsibilities and necessity for everyone (working, middle class and wealthy folks) to destroy capitalism and redistribute resources so all have enough to thrive. To do that, we need to understand the ways our class backgrounds influence our perceptions, values, attitudes towards money, and political goals. Capitalism thrives on secrecy and shame around money, and this session will give us space to discuss class and process what we need to in order to share resources more freely.

TONIGHT AT 6PM 🔥 Street Law 101: Know Your Rights with @fatfairygodmuva and @lorenzo_madeindc

Register: https://linktr.ee/Blacklivesmatterdc
(LINK IN BIO)

It is important that the people most targeted by police have critical information about their rights during police interactions. We encourage youth and young adults to attend as they are the most targeted. This training will be about what actually happens on the street. It will provide the legal definitions of terms like detain, stop, frisk and consent, etc. but also helps participants identify those things in real time, in real life when those words aren't actually used. ASL, Spanish translation will be provided.
