Moving everyday in May to raise funds for the @bccancerfdn. Together, we are stronger than cancer #WorkoutBC

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Our 2026 fundraising event for @bccancerfdn is finally wrapped for the year, with our 30 days in May fitness for @workoutbc , our June cycling event and finally the @cypresschallenge

After all is said and done and a year of well timed cooperative weather for our event, I have some standout memories.

💙Lyndsey @maxonzoey1215 one of our newest team members giving me feedback along the ride that what we have created mimics the camaraderie felt at TDC.🫶🏻

💙Our one day cycling event turned to two for @paige.sandher and I.
During day 1 she challenged me to ride like we used to for 2 days! So it was her and I covering and carrying each other for that extra 100km. Paige is a very successful young woman and with that comes very busy. I was honoured that she gave up a day for the cause and that I had the privilege to spend it with her connecting, bonding and supporting each other! We definitely earned our donations.

💙Thanks to Bill, one of our OG riders for coming out for the Miles for Myles award and riding with us briefly.

Thank you to all Conquistadors who participated in some form or another, to all the volunteers who made the day go smoothly and took great care of riders, to Lyle for securing the union hall for our event and to Surj for carrying the torch this year. Thank you to all donors who really make this happen. You are changing outcomes. 💙💙💙

There is so much to share about last weekend. But I need to start with the Mylestone Award.

It’s hard to think that I went from a one year ride to 15 years of fundraising and riding for @bccancerfdn

When I see that person with my red bike and my first picture taken for fundraising, I’m blown away as to where this has taken me.
From deep friendships to leadership and camaraderie, teamwork, tears, laughter and lessons. I have personally gained so much from my participation.

As I have said, this belongs to the team. I am just a link in the bike chain of The Conquistadors. I’m just the nag 😆 and I would not be here without the team and never without Paul and Surj who both made me continue on a one and done goal!!

I’m so grateful to share the award with Surj as we have navigated leadership together.

As I’ve said before, my greatest thank you goes to every one who has ever donated. I know cancer means something to each of you and you have supported myself and the team in a quest for Better Outcomes. 🙏🏻 This award is for your collective support!!

Cancer changed their lives. They chose to change lives in return.

For more than 10 years, Colleen and Surj have turned personal loss and determination into something bigger than themselves — a movement of people committed to changing the future of cancer care in B.C.

Now, as recipients of the 2026 Mylestone Award, Colleen and Surj are proving that one team, one community and one shared purpose can make an incredible difference.

In lieu of Father’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you.💛

THANK YOU
To everyone who donated, participated, attended events, moved with me throughout May, or supported the Workout to Conquer Cancer Challenge in any way. Your encouragement and generosity meant more than you know!

Together we fundraised $770 and logged a total of 17,086 minutes!🎉💪🏼

I hope that everyone who joined me throughout the challenge took away something meaningful. Whether it was connection, movement, community or simply a reason to show up for yourself.

While this challenge may be over, the purpose behind it continues. I look forward to bringing people together again through movement, connection and even supporting a great cause along the way🫶🏼✨

Thank you for being apart of this journey with me! 💛

We want to share the story of Miles for Myles with those interested in reading because Surj and I are so honoured and humbled to be the recipients, knowing Myles story. 💙

Myles began experiencing stomach issues in the fall of 2020. Instead of enjoying his first year of high school in West Vancouver, or doing what he loved — boating, fishing or anything that involved hanging with his two older brothers, Matthew and Cole and his twin, Nathan — he was vomiting several times a day and lost 20 pounds. In March, he was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with Stage 4 diffused gastric carcinoma, a stomach cancer rarely found in young people.

“None of us knew how to help,” says Myles’ Aunt Susan. “We’d heard of Workout to Conquer Cancer, so we decided to form a team.” To distract and support Myles, who was undergoing chemotherapy, and to give his large family something positive to focus on, they set a fundraising goal of $20,000.

“We reached it in the first few days,” says Susan. By the end of the month they’d raised $92,000.

Naturally, Myles was eager to beat their record in 2022. “He said, ‘It’s only $8,000 more than last year, what’s the big deal?’” laughs Lana.

Determined to meet the goal before Myles had surgery to remove the tumour and his stomach at the end of May, his family pulled out all the stops. Buckets for Myles, a student-led basketball fundraiser at Rockridge Secondary was created. Four of his cousins committed to walking 100,000 steps — one for every dollar they hoped to raise. This included a “special route” of Myles choosing around the hospital. Mapped out it was clearly in the shape of a penis, recalls Lana. “What can I say, he was a teenage boy.”

On the morning of his surgery, we told him we’d surpassed his goal and had raised $225,000, says Lana. “He was so proud, and wanted to know when his share would arrive in his bank account,” she laughs.

The surgery went well. “We were ecstatic,” says Lana. Eight hours later Myles was rushed to the ICU. He died on June 1, 2022.

“Workout to Conquer is a way to keep Myles close, to make him proud, to make his terrible journey with cancer be not in vain.

And that’s a wrap on Workout to Conquer Cancer 2026! ✨

My heart is so full. I am incredibly proud, grateful, and inspired by what our team has accomplished this year. ❤️

Together, we showed up with dedication, commitment, and purpose—not only for our own health and wellness goals, but also in honour and memory of the loved ones who have touched our lives. Every workout, every donation, and every message of encouragement made a difference.

This year alone, our team raised an amazing $7,380🎉

With a team of just 12 people, this was no small accomplishment. Every single member went above and beyond, giving their best and absolutely crushing it this year. ❤️🙏

🥁 Some incredible highlights from this year:

💥 Over the past 9 years, Team SimplyNourishd has raised an incredible $71,174! 💥

👏 We finished as a TOP 30 fundraising team out of 144 teams!

💪 We ranked TOP 31 on the Movement Minute Leaderboard!

These numbers represent so much more than dollars and minutes. They represent commitment, resilience, community, and the collective power of people coming together for something bigger than themselves.

Year after year the energy, motivation, and sense of purpose created throughout this month stays with me long after the challenge ends and continues to fuel me throughout the year. 🙌❤️

To my incredible team: thank you. In the midst of busy schedules, responsibilities, and life’s unexpected twists and turns, you showed up—for yourselves, for each other, and for this important cause. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished together. ❤️

And finally, to every single person who donated and supported us along the way—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Because of your generosity, I not only reached my personal fundraising goal of $1,000 but surpassed it, finishing at $1,052! 🎉
.
We are so excited for next year as we take on our 10th year participating. We look forward to growing our team, having an awesome time working out and moving together and crushing some epic fundraising goals next year! ✌️
