We are getting ready for a neighbourhood clothing swap THIS SATURDAY MARCH 14 11-2PM, part of the Summer of Care, Share and Repair project led by my eco art collective Works-in-Progress

This is both a FREE CLOTHING SWAP (ALL AGES, GENDERFREE) and MAKERS SWAP (bring us your unfinished projects and untouched knitting needles, and pick up material for a new project) PLUS we have repair experts (and machines and material) to help you get your overloved clothes back in rotation. Darn those socks!

We are grateful for much help from our neighbourhood partner, with signs, volunteers and a great space in the community room at @gleberoadunited (20 glebe rd e in midtown yoronto) as well as feedback, creative and material support from neighbours and friends.

This project is supported by the City of Toronto through Live Green Toronto @livegreento and the Neighbourhood
Climate Action Grants program.

Upcoming Clothing swap alert! This is our annual Spring neighbour-to-neighbour all ages clothing swap and repair FREE event in midtown Toronto.

Swipe through to see some images from last year, and check out our website for all the details and FAQs

We are partnering with local community partner, @gleberoadunited to host in their community room. Saturday, March 14, 11-2pm. Bring your own bag or we have some on hand. Donate your gently used clothing and get some new to you outfits for the imminent season change. #thereisenough

We will also have a REPAIR ADVICE table if you have some overloved textiles you want to keep using, and some machines and tools tonuse on site. Plus, we bring back the MAKERS EXCHANGE - bring by your unfinished projects, tools, patterns, material, yarn and notions that you no longer need, and pick up some fresh inspiration for your next project.

If you want to help, we need people to help set up and tear down the swap, maintain it during the event. Great for high school students needing volunteer hours. We also welcome makers who want to share repair skills. If you have made something, you know more than people who have not. DM to help out.

Tell your friends and family :)

Some more of the Make + Mend plus Market event Saturday with our neighbour and community partner Glebe Road United Church @gleberoadunited who are celebrating their 175th anniversary -yay! with an open house... there were musicians and food but we mostly stayed in the gym making t-shirts (see previous post and the lovely models in th first slide) with a print design from @leahnsanchezdesigns

These are some MARKET and MEND (and a little more making) photos with our lovely makers and volunteers.

Many thanks to our hosts, the vendors, the makers and awesome humans who came and made things and repaired items and bought homemade wares and transformed old textiles into new treasures.

💚💚💚💙🩵💚 all the helpers from the church and Ursa, Otis, Shams, Leah, Leslie,Tanya, Joanna +Vale for running the show

Vendors that we know: @leahnsanchezdesigns

Our Make +Mend plus market event Saturday was great and a little overwhelming... i couldn't squeeze it all into one post... so here is the MAKE part.

Super talented WiP artist Leah @leahnsanchezdesigns has been inspired by our collective and the power of friendship! We now have team t-shirts (we model some in the next post) for the artists in the collective-and beyond! Return makers in our community made some as well- keep an eye out in midtown Toronto for these stylish humans

The t-shirts were all second hand and some dyed in previous experiments because CARE+REPAIR and WE ARE ALL WORKS IN PROGRESS

We 💚 printing and wearing these shirts and making things together. #artmakesitreal

Last week was all about energy, connection and inspiration at Toronto’s first Climate Week! I spoke at @carbonhound ‘s event, “From Plate to Planet” where Founder, Sanders Lazier and I talked through the tough topic of climate change, the science behind it all and what we can do about it!
Wonderfully, coincidentally, our first steps can be taken right around the kitchen counter.
I will be sharing video clips of the event soon, in the meanwhile here’s a few snapshots of joy from the evening!

💚Thank you for hosting such a welcoming and engaging event, Team @Carbonhound.
💚Thank you for providing the incredible food Chef @miriammtze and for your insight into climate-friendly cooking.
💚Thank you for building such an inclusive umbrella, Team @torontoclimateweek Can’t wait for June 2026!

Thank you to everyone who attended, asked a question, played the video game and lined up to chat too! I even sold a whole ton of copies of my 📗, Good Food, Healthy Planet, and signed each one of them!
My heart is full! I am grateful!
