I’m excited to finally be able to share with you my new body of work, in the making since 2020. ‘Worlds Apart’ is a series of immersive virtual environments that takes my research on, and exploration of, the phenomenon of social isolation a step further. In my previous series, ‘Alone Together’ (2016-2019), I had envisioned a detached, bird’s-eye view of vast, alienating citiscapes. In the new series, I wanted to explore more individual narratives on the same theme. ‘Worlds Apart’ currently consists of three environments — each an expansive, uninhabited natural landscape containing a single man-made structure. Within these enclosures, highly detailed, familiar scenes unfold, each referencing a specific scenario of social isolation. Watch this space as I share more images from the series in the coming days. And I hope to see many of you at the project’s first public showing, at this year’s @art_rotterdam (27-30 March) with @contour.gallery. NODES + BRANCHES   Join us at Humber Street Gallery for a practical introduction to building immersive landscapes and environments using TouchDesigner with visual artist and Creative Technologist Aristotle Roufanis ( @worksofar ) supported by VE Project Lead Matt Fratson @mattfratson .   TouchDesigner is used to create interactive, real-time visual experiences with a number of different outputs, from architectural projections to immersive physical spaces.   We will also begin to design elements of our innovative Virtual Ecologies online archive, which will go live later in the spring.   Aristotle Roufanis’ work focuses on patterns, textures and human interactions defined by the condition of urban life and architecture. He directs Worksofar - an innovative studio, working at the crossroads where art, technology and engineering meet. Worksofar create unique concepts, guiding emotions through the lens of interactive media and technology. 8.3.25 - Young People 12-17s 1-3pm 15.3.25 – Adults 1-3pm   Book online now at: virtualecologies.com/get-involved   • Laptops, together with all materials and resources will be provided for use on the day • You may bring along your own laptop. 🔺ＰＹＲＡＭＩＤＳ🔺 Read the caption to learn more about this project —— This concept was originally Inspired by @joanielemercier and his origami and projection mapping tutorial that he released during lockdown. PYRAMIDS was a labor of love and quiet the @touchdesigner learning experience. I had been teaching myself Touchdesigner through various YouTube and Patreon accounts (@elekktronaut @function.str @paketa12) but felt like I needed a bit more guidance. So I enrolled in 1-on-1 mentorship program through @interactiveimmersivehq and received coaching from the talented @worksofar. For several months we delved into the development of this project with the intention of using everyday materials like paper and a budget-friendly projector, all in all the materials for this project cost less than $100. Developing this process taught me a multitude of essential concepts and techniques for constructing larger installations. System architecture , advanced instancing, user interfaces, python scripting, projection mapping and programming midi controllers were all skills that I’ve improved upon throughout the development of this project. Although I actually completed PYRAMIDS back in April, it’s only now that I’ve really found the time, focus, and motivation to revisit this project and start sharing some of these visuals. Join me in celebrating creativity, learning, and the power of DIY art! You don’t need to have a lot of fancy lights or equipment, just a strong idea and the creativity to use the resources already available to you.📽️💡📃✨ 🖼️ #ProjectionMapping #touchdesigner #projectionmappingart #DIYArt #ArtisticJourney #lightinstallation #lightart #lightartwork
