Does your Toronto City Council candidate support hosting a multinational war bank in Toronto?

Stop the DSRB Coalition contacted council candidates and reviewed how incumbents voted on the issue to determine whether candidates support Toronto hosting the headquarters of the DSRB, a multinational bank dedicated to financing weapons and surveillance towards a war-filled future.

You can use this guide to track your candidates stance. If your candidate is not listed here, we encourage you to continue phoning and emailing candidates using information shared in our previous posts!

No war bank in our city, in Canada, or on this planet ✊

BREAKING: ELBIT SYSTEMS PURCHASES A CANADIAN WEAPONS COMPANY

On October 20, Elbit Systems, the industrial arm of the genocide in Palestine, completed its acquisition of International Submarine Engineering (ISE) in Port Coquitlam, BC.

It is despicable for Israel’s biggest weapons company, the one most arming and profiting from genocide, to be permitted to purchase a Canadian company. The Canadian government can and should stop this, but if they won’t, we will. The Elbit out of Canada campaign could not be more timely or critical.

Last month liberal MP Sean Casey was removed from his cabinet position over his support of the "No More Loopholes act", a bill which attempted to end the loophole used to send weapons to Israel by Canadian manufacturers.

His demotion not only highlights the hypocrisy of our government, but the limitations of electorilism as a whole. The Canadian system works to suppress and punish any representative opposing the status quo, even if they are representing the demands of their constituents.

This is why we must take an arms embargo into our own hands and work to end Canadian complicity
