NEW YORK 2026 | THE ART OF INDEPENDENCE 🎬

Honoured to be featured by WILD FILMMAKER in their press release published in connection with the 64th New York Film Festival, as part of their exclusive list of the Best Independent Artists of 2026.

But what makes this recognition particularly meaningful is the philosophy behind it.

From David Lynch to Martin Scorsese, from Jean-Luc Godard to Pier Paolo Pasolini, cinema has often found its most original voices far beyond the established structures of the film industry.

As WILD FILMMAKER beautifully expresses it:

“Independence allows artists to take risks.”

“And it is precisely through risk that something new is often born.”

These words resonate deeply with my own journey.

From the earliest experiments in filmmaking to The Cassandra Venice Project, and its continuing evolution into When Cassandra Venice Speaks, I have always believed that cinema should be driven by imagination, personal vision and the courage to explore the unknown.

Not by formulas. Not by expectations. And certainly not by the size of a production budget.

“Having more resources does not mean having more art.”

Perhaps the most important message of this press release is that independent cinema should never become a smaller imitation of the industry it hopes to impress.

Its strength lies precisely in being different.

In finding an independent identity.

In creating something we have not seen before.

My sincere thanks to the WILD FILMMAKER Editorial Team for including me among the independent artists of 2026 and for continuing to champion creative freedom on an international stage.

From Venice to New York. Different cities. One independent vision.

📜 Logline: In a prehistoric valley governed by sheer stupidity, the sharp-witted daughter of a clueless caveman chief must navigate trial-and-error survival, bizarre linguistic misunderstandings, and a forbidden cross-clan romance—all under the deadpan commentary of an omniscient narrator.

🎭 The Vibe: Long before modern civilization, basic survival wasn't a noble struggle—it was a series of completely avoidable, hilarious disasters driven by total ignorance. Think deadpan satire, broken new language, and gorgeous cinematic landscapes paired with absurd physical comedy.

Thank you so much to the jury and festival team at @worldclassawards_ for supporting writers and celebrating independent screenwriting! Honored to share these official certificates in collaboration with @worldclassawards_! 🙌🏆🍿✨
