Seven independent films. Modest production budgets. Extraordinary box office results. From The Blair Witch Project to Obsession, these films show how a compelling concept, smart production choices and the right distribution strategy can reach audiences worldwide. Of course, box office revenue isn’t the same as profit. Marketing, distribution and other costs matter too. But these stories show that a film’s commercial potential isn’t always determined by the size of its production budget. Which indie film’s success surprised you the most?

Spielberg’s mechanical shark kept malfunctioning during Jaws, forcing him to build suspense around what audiences couldn’t see.

For Bicycle Thieves, Vittorio De Sica cast nonprofessional actors and filmed on the streets of postwar Rome, proving that powerful storytelling doesn’t require expensive sets or established stars.

And Citizen Kane challenged conventional filmmaking with its innovative use of deep focus, low-angle photography, and fragmented storytelling.

Different filmmakers, different approaches, but the same lesson: every creative decision shapes how an audience experiences a story.

Which film taught you the most about directing, and what would you add to this list? by @worldclassawards_

We are honored to celebrate Priscilla Presley @priscillapresley and recognize her extraordinary legacy, influence, and enduring impact on global culture.

Seeing Priscilla Presley holding her World Class Creator Award is a beautiful reminder of why we created this recognition: to honor people whose legacy has touched generations and continues to inspire the world.

It is an immense privilege to celebrate an icon whose influence goes far beyond the screen. 🏆✨

Our heartfelt thanks as well to award-winning author, screenwriter, and documentary producer Lynn Santer, a dear friend and creative partner of Priscilla, for her invaluable support in helping make this special moment possible.

Congratulations, Priscilla. This award is now where it belongs. 🤍
