this weekend, a double feature.

@raym.jones and @pwnela manned the cowbell and last aid station in the route.

@spencercaratti (nearly) started the race on a flat rear; @darrenjkornas was there with the pump, just in time.

@niccleblanc and his front derailleur fought it out. @jshooie and @_isaac.shapiro_ kept it moving the whole time. @wovickers, all smiles. more so with a @halfwaycrooksbeer.

the wind did not let up. october temperatures arrived without any preamble.

we wouldn't change a thing.

there is a climb in colombia that changes climate four times before it lets you stop.

el sifón. summit above 13,500 feet. 55.64 miles and 14,006 feet to get there. @pwnela and @wovickers rode it.

6 days in colombia. 214.42 miles, 28,759 feet. only 1 sifón.

The plan was Alto de Letras — the old longest climb on earth.

Colombia had other plans.

On day one of our third Colombia trip, a serious earthquake hit the region. Our thoughts are with everyone affected. Later, a landslide closed the road
we’d planned to climb.

We had no map for what came next. We told the group straight, and everyone said yes anyway.

The alternative: Alto del Sifón — Colombia’s highest paved road, and the real longest climb on earth. Four climate zones, a sea of frailejones, lagoons that looked like pieces of heaven, a volcano waiting at 4,100 meters.
It never felt like it was going to end. I wish it hadn’t.
The next day, the Vuelta a Colombia climbed the same road as their queen stage. We got there first.

Alto del Sifón is now a permanent stop on CLIPPED Colombia — grateful for a crew that rolled with it, and thinking of the communities still rebuilding

finally ordered* a @buxumbox, so I asked @wovickers (and bonus tutor @bryant_matos80) to show me how to pack my bike ahead of our @clippedtours trip to colombia. stoked to feel more confident traveling with my bike now.
