🤝 Stronger Together: Building the Future of Windsor Shelter Health
Great things happen when we come together with a shared vision and a strategic plan! 💙
CMHA-WECB was proud to join partners from Windsor Regional Hospital, the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Nursing, Schulich Windsor Campus, the City of Windsor, and Windsor Shelter Health Associates for a strategic planning session focused on the future of Windsor Shelter Health.

Through collaboration and a shared commitment, we’re working to strengthen access to integrated, compassionate health care for people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in our community.

Together, we’re building on the progress we’ve made and creating a healthier, more supportive future for Windsor-Essex. 💜

We at the Downtown Mission were so saddened to hear about the passing of Jonathan Foster, someone in our Community we considered a Leader in compassion and healthcare and a true friend - Jonathan's Obituary can be viewed on the Reid Funeral Home Website.

Jonathan was a great mentor and support to many of us, working with our Team years ago when we partnered with Windsor Regional Hospital on the Mission Navigator Program at the Hospital and through the years since in so many other ways.

To all Jonathan's friends, family and coworkers, we send you our sincerest condolences and we pray that your memories of Jonathan will take you through this very difficult time of loss! We promise you, we will do all we can, to keep his memory and all that we worked with him on here at the Mission going on, to do all that we can to keep our community safe and well, striving for betterment and growth as we believe he would want us to continue doing!!!

Today we celebrated two exceptional oncology nurses - Jennifer Hughes and Michelle Gagnier - as we presented them with this year’s Daniel Johnson Excellence in Oncology Nursing Award. Started by the Johnson family, the award pays tribute to Daniel’s legacy and to the care provided every day by oncology nurses, providing the recipients with funding to pursue advanced skill-building for patient care.

Jennifer, from the 4West Inpatient Oncology Unit, is being recognized by her peers for demonstrating exemplary compassion and clinical support to patients and families navigating complex care journeys.

Michelle, from the Cancer Centre, is celebrated for her outstanding contributions, dedication and compassionate care within the oncology team.

The anniversary of Daniel’s passing was marked on October 3rd and the award program continues to celebrate his memory while honouring outstanding local nurses.

Congratulations to Jennifer and Michelle and thank you to the Johnson family and the award committee for your generous recognition.

We had such a great time hosting the Windsor Regional Hospital’s Workplace Wellness workshop last night!

It was so much fun watching everyone put their own creative spin on their signs. ❤️

Thank you for spending the evening painting, laughing and creating with us!

And the best part…..You don’t need a workshop to enjoy one of our DIY kits!

Our kits are easy enough for anyone to make, with step-by-step video instructions to guide you along the way.

Paint one on your own time, make one with a friend, have a DIY paint night with a group, or give a kit as a fun stocking stuffer. 🎁

Pick your design, paint and create it your way — no workshop required! ✨

The Rise Above Community Health Conference hosted by St. Clair College was such a success today! The theme of the day was Reclaiming Purpose in Care and Service.

A big thanks to our keynote speaker, Kristin Kennedy and the fantastic fireside chat panel of Bill Marra, Nicole Sbrocca, Adam Topp and Insp. Scott Jeffery, led by Dr. Janelle Abela.

Would also like to extend gratitude to our breakout session hosts Julie Jones, Louise Moss, Brandon Boundy, Dr. Edward Cruz, and Dr. Rachel Elliott.

St. Clair Research and Innovation hosted an afternoon session featuring Madeline Garlatti, Jennifer Bradt, Dr. Rachel Park and Nancy Brockenshire.

Dr. Janelle Abela closed the day with a meaningful reflection and offered practical suggestions on how to bring passion back to work.

Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent are communities loaded with talented individuals who care deeply about the communities they serve, and today was a prime example.

As a member of the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network, the WE-SPARK Health Institute is excited to see this investment from the Government of Canada.

Together, we are working to ensure every cancer patient in Canada can receive the right treatment at the right time for their unique cancer, no matter who they are or where they live.

We’re proud of what we’ve built so far and excited to be part of what’s next.
