Every Monday I return to this place the way migratory birds return to a coastline they somehow remember.

Not because anyone tells them to.
Not because they have to.
Because something in them knows where home is.

This gathering has become a kind of sacrament for me ; not a religion, but a ritual. A lighthouse built from voices instead of stone. A campfire where the wood is stories and the flame is attention. Week after week, poets, musicians, and beautifully imperfect humans arrive carrying pieces of themselves they could have kept hidden, and somehow leave lighter for having shared them.

In a world that often asks us to become brands, products, algorithms, or arguments, this room asks something much stranger: be human.

Bring your grief like a pocket full of sea glass.
Bring your joy like a dog-eared photograph.
Bring your failures, your triumphs, your terrible Mondays and miraculous Tuesdays.

We'll make something of them together.

Every week feels like watching people place small candles in each other's darkness until the room is bright enough for everyone to find their way.

What a privilege it is to witness that. What a privilege it is to belong to it.

Participants shared poems with confidence and passion bringing their unique perspectives to the stage. Thank you to the audience for offering support and encouragement, uplifting each youth that stepped on the stage.

Guys… I’m not fighting Nic Jean 👻

Thank you @dirtygerund for another Iron Poet Tournament. As I prepare to leave for a year, I cannot think of a better way to I would want to spend time with the poetry community that welcomed me with open arms, nor could I think of anyone I would want to go toe-to-toe with- poetically speaking- than @journalpoet (THATS MY SLAM COACH I KNOW THEM!!!!)

Thank you to @narklizard for graciously MCing another brutal Iron Poet Final, and to @hunchbackgallery for allowing us to duel in your space (metaphorically, of course). ✍️❤️

In a twist straight out of a poetic coliseum, the padawan, Madeline, won the battle then dropped their metaphorical lightsaber and forfeited the title to their teacher, Nic Jean.

Because in this arena, it's not just about victory.
It's about honor, community, and bars so sharp they draw blood - today, everyone left a champion.

🌟 Thank you @hunchbackgallery for having us 🌟
