Tonight’s bedtime story was “Too Much” by @writerjolene and let me tell you- I felt seen. Even as an adult, sensory overwhelm is real. Imagine how the littles must feel, experiencing all of this without understanding or being able to communicate why. I enjoyed reading this book to my children. A small contribution to the @museo_patio_herreriano exhibition by Paulo Nazareth. I had 20 minutes until the museum closed but rushed through a quick drawing to make sure my mom, @writerjolene, made it onto the wall alongside so many other mothers. ‘Ora Pro Nobis’ is a traveling exhibit that explores “mother tongues, the absence and invocation of the mother, and the love of mother or mother nature.”

And on Sunday, November 1 at 2:30, the @coloradosymphony's Día de Muertos family celebration will feature THE OFRENDA THAT WE BUILT on stage as the talented @Ariadragon narrates and actors build the ofrenda!

Love children's books? Want to meet featured authors and illustrators? We're partnering once again with the @boulderbookstore and @boulderlibrary for the 8th annual Children’s Book Festival on Saturday, November 7!

Join us for a day full of author talks, illustrator demos, book signings, and hands-on activities for all ages. Families can interact with children’s book creators and literacy activities designed by CU Boulder teacher education students. Practicing educators and librarians are invited to a midday panel with all the authors. Come for part of the event or stay for the day, just don't miss it!

The highlight of Letters and Lines 2026 was seeing friends and making new ones. I needed that more than I realized! Thanks friends for the hugs, the conversations, the laughs, and the fun!

I also appreciated the wisdom and inspiration in all the sessions I attended. It gave me back a spark that had been flickering during my recent search for a new agent, reminding me why I write in the first place—for kids, for joy, for telling new stories. And my sweet friend @cicchese.art reminded me that all my big feelings are okay. (Plus, I can use them in my next story!)

I am SO tired but taking all my supplements and praying the crowds didn’t affect my immune suppressed health.

Today, I get to ride a horse which I’m pretty sure is a cure for everything!

Onward with joy!
