Located in Santa Clara, CA, Mission College's new WRNS-designed plaza replaces the old main building with approximately 190,000 sq ft of various landscaped features. Three intricate geometric canopies, a great central lawn, a rose garden, and a woodland forest provide plenty of spaces for social interaction and natural collaboration.

WRNS Associate, Architect Parvaneh Mohaddes participated in the 2019 AIA Women’s Leadership Summit in Minneapolis. This year’s conference was themed ‘Reframe. Rethink. Refresh.’ 750 women in architecture and design gathered to discuss the importance of equity and the role of women in architecture through keynote speakers, interactive experiences, and small group seminars.
Parvaneh reflected, “Passion has a temporal nature while purpose is rooted in permanence. Passion stops but purpose goes on. Suddenly it became clear that I was sharing the room with a group of women who found a purpose in architecture beyond the initial passion.” To read Parvaneh’s writing in full click on the link in our bio.

WRNS designed the third location for @826valencia , a nonprofit that supports under-resourced students with their writing skills, in Mission Bay. “As designers, we like the idea of the enchanted forest as a place where the heroine has to journey through, overcome obstacles and through that journey become enlightened,” said Associate, Project Architect Jonas Kellner.
Read the story of how and why 826 Valencia, and other centers like it, got built in the upcoming book Unnecessarily Beautiful Spaces for Young Minds on Fire, published by @mcswys , a local non-profit. The book features behind the scenes info and stunning full-color photos. The book is available for preorder at the link in our bio. 📸: @celsoarojas

WRNS Studio’s 500 Santana Row is Splunk’s first South Bay location, but not its last. The rapidly growing tech company will move into the neighboring WRNS-designed project at 700 Santa Row early next year. The buildings amplify the mixed-use nature of @santanarow .

Japanese charred wood, cast-in-place concrete, and an emphasis on sustainability define the renovation and expansion WRNS Studio designed for Utah-based @okland_construction . The end result is a healthy, inspirational workplace that connects employees with one another and their natural environment. Sustainable strategies included focusing on using regional materials, maximizing daylighting and views, and creating a warm and engaging sense of place.

Recently awarded LEED Platinum, SF State’s Mashouf Wellness Center is the first building on campus to earn a LEED certification. Water conservation and grey-water recycling help the building save up to 600,000 gallons of water per year. The building uses around 55% less energy than the typical rec center, and even manages to sustainably cool the building and heat the pools. 📸: Jeremy Bittermann
