Kona Farm Distillery offers visitors a transcendent hospitality experience and an opportunity to connect to Hawaiʻi’s land, craft, and culture. We’re honored to share that Kona Farm Distillery has received the 2026 @metropolismag Planet Positive Award in the Hospitality category.

On Hawaiʻi Island’s Kona coffee belt, guests arrive along an orchard-lined drive to an open-air tasting room facing the Pacific. The copper still sits behind glass, so the making of each spirit happens in plain view. Rainwater, coffee-processing water, and distillery wastewater are treated through trickling filter tanks and UV, then used to irrigate the surrounding crops. The project is designed with a regional biophilic approach: shaped wood columns from locally sourced ʻōhiʻa trees and tables and stools crafted by regional artisans add warmth and a memorable story for guests. Crushed, locally reused cinder is used throughout the site to celebrate native stone, improve drainage and porosity, and support plant health. Visitors gather at communal tables made from local monkeypod, and sliding wood panels open the room to the trade winds. Photovoltaics offset nearly 20% of annual energy use.

Congratulations to our client and the full project team, and thank you to Metropolis for their leadership.

WRNS is proud to announce that Valley Health Center San José-Campbell recently celebrated its grand opening. The new healthcare center brings accessible, essential care to this growing neighborhood in San José.

WRNS Studio Partners Brian Milman and Raul Garduño joined members of our multidisciplinary team, community leaders, public officials, and healthcare advocates at the ceremony to mark this important moment for the city.

Working closely with the County of Santa Clara Health System, WRNS Studio designed the center as a welcoming civic presence that responds to the community’s growing healthcare needs while contributing to the character and connectivity of the surrounding neighborhood.

A signature project within San José's Urban Village strategy, the LEED Gold certified center places healthcare at the intersection of housing, public space, and transit. Located alongside high-density housing and directly connected to the Valley Transportation Authority's Bascom Station, the project makes care easier to reach for patients, families, and staff, whether they arrive on foot, by bicycle, or by transit.

The project also introduces 40,000 square feet of new green space, including a public park with native California plantings and trees. The landscape creates a welcoming connection between the health center and Bascom Station while contributing new space to the public realm within the neighborhood.

Congratulations to our team and partners on this important milestone!

We’re excited to announce that Experience Center One is a finalist for the @credawa Night of the Stars Award for Office Development of the Year. This project welcomes partners and customers arriving from around the world to a Global Technology Company’s reimagined 72-acre campus in Redmond, Washington. Our team shaped the building around stands of firs and cedars originally marked for clearing and preserved the natural movement of water across the sloping site. The LEED Platinum and Living Building Challenge Net Zero Carbon building celebrates the mature forest canopy and blends hospitality and technology with the Pacific Northwest’s iconic landscape.

The Kelsey Civic Center has received a 2026 AIA California Design Award!

The Kelsey Civic Center starts from a simple idea: architecture can’t solve San Francisco’s housing crisis on its own, but it can help expand how many people feel they belong in the city. Located across from San Francisco’s City Hall, the 112-unit building offers affordable, accessible housing for people with and without disabilities — one of the largest of its kind in the city. @aiacalif’s jury called the project “urbanistically responsible, with contextual palette and scale, well-integrated with important civic center character.”

Built with @thekelseymore, @mercyhousing, Santos Prescott and Associates, @cahillcontractors, @mikiten_architecture, @rhaa.studio, Mar Structural Design, @sherwoodengineers, @pointenergy, LUMA Lighting Design, Tommy Siu & Associates, and F.W. Associates. Photography by @brucedamonte.

WRNS Studio was honored to share a master plan update at the VISIONS gala, offering insights into how the 37-acre VCB campus can continue to evolve to support VISIONS’ mission. We walked attendees through the new design using a mixture of visual and tactile plans and heard their feedback and aspirations for this next chapter.

The plan brings buildings, landscape, circulation, and accessibility into a campus framework, helping guide future reinvestment and stewardship.

Last week, we celebrated two milestones with SFUSD: the ribbon cutting for 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆’s new classroom building and the opening of the 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝘂𝗯 on the fourth floor of the new Mission Bay campus.

At West Portal, new all-electric classroom buildings replace aging portables, with outdoor learning space and reclaimed materials woven into the campus.

At Mission Bay, maker spaces, labs, and collaboration areas support a relationship-centered STEM environment for SFUSD students. Through UCSF cohorts and student-to-professional exchanges, the Hub connects learning with projects focused on health, life science, and research.

Proud to work with @sfunified and @ucsf, and the many partners, educators, families, and community members who helped make these projects possible.

𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 @ucsc’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲.

With approval from the UC Board of Regents, 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 will help UCSC expand on-campus living in careful balance with the site’s natural ecosystem.

As part of a design-build team with @mccarthybuild, the first phase will bring nearly 1,300 beds through apartments and co-living suites, with shared amenities, a resiliency hub, and outdoor spaces designed to support daily campus life while protecting the surrounding landscape.

Prioritizing environmental stewardship, the project pairs fully electric design with on-site solar and stormwater capture for non-potable reuse, supporting UCSC’s broader goals for climate resilience.

We’re honored to work alongside UC Santa Cruz, McCarthy Building Companies, and the broader design-build team as this next phase of student housing takes shape.

Frist reframes the student health center as part of campus life: a place for care, counseling, gathering, pause, and connection. The 76,500-square-foot adaptive reuse project brings together clinical care, counseling services, a 24-bed infirmary, gathering spaces, and gardens within Princeton’s historic Eno Hall.

In the feature by April Shernisky, WRNS Senior Associate Kayleen Kulesza, AIA shares how the interiors move away from institutional healthcare toward spaces that support comfort, dignity, agency, and calm. HCD’s jury recognized Frist as a “visual and environmental expression of the growth journey,” integrating old and new during a formative time in student life.

Congratulations to Princeton University, University Health Services, our collaborators, and the WRNS team.

Thank you to April Sherinisky and the Healthcare Design team for the thoughtful feature.

At WRNS, we see them as shared amenities that can shape the feel of everyday life.

When thoughtfully designed, these spaces do more than meet program needs. They help people come together, make buildings easier to navigate, and bring wellness into the rhythm of the day.

That is what draws us to this work: the opportunity to create places that feel welcoming, well used, and deeply connected to the communities around them.
