⚖️ WRONGFUL CONVICTIONS OFTEN BEGIN WITH PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT.

The prosecutor's duty is not simply to win a case. It is to seek justice.

When evidence is withheld, testimony is misleading, witnesses are improperly influenced, or facts that challenge the prosecution's narrative are ignored, the consequences can be devastating.

A conviction should never matter more than the truth.

For Nicholas, our family continues to raise serious concerns about excluded evidence, potential misconduct, outside influence, and the fairness of his trial.

We believe these questions deserve answers—and accountability.

🔎 Examine the evidence.
⚖️ Question the narrative.
📂 Demand transparency.

Justice is not measured by the number of convictions secured, but by the fairness and integrity of the process.

A verdict should never shield misconduct from scrutiny.

✊ Stand against injustice. Demand accountability.

✊ INJUSTICE WON'T END ITSELF. PEOPLE MUST RISE.

Injustice doesn't disappear because we ignore it. And a broken process doesn't correct itself simply because we trust the system to do the right thing.

Change happens when people refuse to remain silent.

When evidence is overlooked, legitimate questions go unanswered, potential conflicts of interest remain unexamined, or concerns about bias, influence, and misconduct are dismissed, accountability becomes more important than ever.

⚖️ Justice should never depend on power, wealth, influence, or personal connections.

It should depend on facts, evidence, fairness, and the rule of law.

For Nicholas, our family continues to raise serious questions about what happened before, during, and after his trial.

We believe there is more to this story that deserves to be examined.

And we refuse to stop searching for the truth.

But meaningful change takes more than one family.

It takes people willing to ask difficult questions.

People willing to look beyond headlines and public perception.

People willing to demand transparency and accountability—even when doing so challenges those in positions of authority.

You don't have to agree with us to believe that every person deserves a fair trial, due process, and a justice system free from improper influence.

We aren't asking you to blindly believe our position.

🔎 Read the evidence.
📂 Examine the record.
⚖️ Question the narrative.
📢 Speak up when something doesn't add up.

Because silence allows unanswered questions to remain unanswered.

One voice can raise awareness. Thousands of voices can demand accountability.

And when enough people refuse to look away, change becomes possible.

✊ STAND AGAINST INJUSTICE. STAND FOR TRUTH.

#reels #are #too #real #🙌🏾 HIS STORY 🗣️going from being a kid that trusted in the system… thought the law was there to protect me… to being kidnapped and trapped in the system forced to learn law as much as I could so I could somehow understand what just happened to my life sooo fast? I went from thinking about what college i wanted to go to after graduating High School!! I had a daughter on the way who I couldn’t wait for her arrival!!! I had a whole world of dreams snatched away in a matter of months!!! Shuffled/Rushed through the court room after court room, told not to say nothing by my attorney David L. Lankford!!! Who at the end of the day he said to me I should be happy with the way things turned out…. At least I didn’t get LIFE!!🤬 My mom snapped on his ass in that courtroom🙌🏾 they threw her out the courtroom🤬 a week later I was shipped out to quarantine Riverside, correctional facility, then Baldwin juvenile correctional facility, then to MDOC!!! A helluva journey🙌🏾 I stayed in that library trying to figure something out on how to get out!!!!🙏🏾🙌🏾

⚖️ NO SYSTEM CHANGES UNTIL SOMEONE REFUSES TO ACCEPT IT.
Every meaningful change begins with someone willing to say:
This deserves another look.
These questions deserve answers.
This cannot simply be accepted because the system says the case is over.
A verdict should never make a justice system immune from scrutiny.
When questions remain about evidence, investigative failures, bias, conflicts of interest, outside influence, prosecutorial conduct, or judicial decisions, accountability requires people willing to keep asking—even when doing so is difficult.
For Nicholas, we refuse to stop asking.
We refuse to stop examining the evidence.
We refuse to stop seeking transparency.
We refuse to stop pursuing the legal avenues available to him.
And we refuse to believe that correcting an injustice becomes less important simply because time has passed.
This isn't about rejecting the justice system.
It's about demanding that the justice system live up to what it promises: fairness, impartiality, due process, and equal justice under the law.
Change rarely begins with silence.
It begins when ordinary people decide that injustice should never become acceptable simply because it is difficult to challenge.

⚖️ WHEN JUSTICE IS DISTORTED, TRUTH BECOMES THE CASUALTY.
Justice is supposed to follow the evidence—not a narrative, not influence, not assumptions, and not the outcome someone expects.
Because when the process becomes distorted, the consequences can be devastating.
A person can lose years of freedom.
A family can be torn apart.
Children can grow up without a parent.
And the truth can become buried beneath a verdict.
That is why accountability matters.
When legitimate questions arise about excluded evidence, investigative failures, conflicts of interest, bias, outside influence, prosecutorial conduct, or judicial decisions, those questions deserve to be examined—not dismissed simply because a trial has ended.
For Nicholas, we continue to examine the record, pursue the legal process, and bring forward the concerns and information we believe deserve greater scrutiny.
And we ask you to do something important:
Don't simply believe us. Look for yourself.
Read the records. Examine the evidence. Ask what the jury heard—and what it didn't. Question inconsistencies. Follow the facts wherever they lead.
Because justice should never require us to ignore uncomfortable truths.
When the truth challenges the narrative, follow the truth.

Keith LaMar has served 33 years in solitary confinement on Ohio’s death row for a crime he did not commit. He’s surrounded by the love of friends and family. @govmikedewine please issue a PARDON to Keith LaMar, so he can come home. ♥️⛓️‍💥🙏🏾

I had the incredible honor of presenting the Jackie McMurtrie Champion of Justice Award from the Washington Innocence Project to Khalia Ali and Jason Flom. Their tireless work on freeing the wrongfully convicted and creating a more just system is inspiring. It was his Wrongful Conviction podcast about interrogations that inspired me to draft legislation to mandate the recording of interrogations in Washington, which is now the law and a national model.

Freddie Brinkley served 41 years and 364 days in prison for a series of robberies in Sacramento that he had nothing to do with. He had dozens of alibi witnesses and there was no physical evidence connecting him to these crimes but here’s the thing: both of the parents of the obvious suspect worked at the police department so it seems like they just had to find a fall guy.

It was an honor for me to work with @cassie_bordeaux and @lara.zarowsky to free Freddie several months ago. He is a phenomenal, gentle, smart, optimistic and kind person who can use some help since he has not (and likely will not) receive any compensation.

⚖️ YOU CANNOT TELL THE TRUTH IF YOU ARE MISINFORMED.
Injustice doesn't require everyone to participate.
Sometimes it only requires too many people to stop asking questions.
When information is incomplete, evidence is excluded or overlooked, conflicts go unexplamined, or legitimate concerns about bias, influence, prosecutorial conduct, or judicial decisions aren't fully addressed, the public may never see the complete picture.
And without the complete picture, how can anyone make an informed judgment?
That is why we continue to question.
That is why we continue to investigate.
That is why we continue to share what we uncover.
For Nicholas, our family believes there are serious questions surrounding his case that deserve scrutiny. We will continue pursuing those questions through the legal process and putting information before the public so people can examine it themselves.
Don't believe something simply because we say it.
Read the records.
Examine the evidence.
Look at what was presented—and what wasn't.
Ask questions.
Reach your own conclusions.
Truth does not need protection from scrutiny.
Truth needs people willing to search for it.

Today is Wrongful Conviction Day... Let's all take a moment to understand how so many people are easily trapped into the system. By the very people who are supposed to have our best interest at heart. My brother is another prime example of how the system gets it wrong, especially within our black and brown community. We will always be looked at as a threat. Let's stop turning a blind eye to injustice. Today is Wrongful Conviction Day.

For Rickie, wrongful conviction isn’t a statistic or a headline. It is his life. A life worth fighting for. A life that needs all of us in the fight with him.

Rickie has spent more than 22 years incarcerated for a conviction that a federal court overturned after finding serious violations of his constitutional right to a fair trial.

As Athar Haseebullah, Executive Director of the ACLU of Nevada, has pointed out, Brady violations are not simply court errors. Evidence that could have helped Rickie prove his innocence was withheld, while prosecutors made false representations to the court and jury.

Rickie entered prison at just 19 years old. He is now 41.

Although more than two decades of his life have been taken from him, incarceration has not taken away his humanity, his purpose, or his hope. Through it all, Rickie remains deeply loved and supported by his community.

Today, we honor every person who has been wrongfully convicted, every person still fighting to prove the truth, and every family and community member who fights alongside Rickie and so many others.

Every day, we choose to never give up.

Rickie’s conviction has been overturned, and the fight for his freedom continues.

Please join the effort to #FreeRickieSlaughter.
