Next month we’re putting the true meaning of Thanksgiving into practice. 🙌

Join us for a 2-part experience to give thanks and give back.

THURSDAY, 11/19: Saying Thank You 🙏🏼 ✍️
We begin by tapping into the energy of gratitude. When we express thanks to others it helps us feel better about ourselves. We’ll gather for an evening of creativity and self expression - making handmade thank you cards to send to loved ones. We’ll discuss all the things we are grateful for big and small.

SATURDAY 11/21: Giving Back 🦃❤️
When we acknowledge the goodness in our lives, it makes it easier to share with others. For part 2 we’ll be volunteering with @wscah_ to hand out turkeys to New Yorkers in need.

Before you gather with friends and family, join us for these special experiences. Choose what speaks to you! Limited spots available!

See link in bio for tickets.

Progress starts with bringing people to the table.

This week, leaders working to expand food access across NYC and beyond gathered at Rethink Food with Congressman Jim McGovern to discuss building an ambitious, achievable national anti-hunger agenda.

A special thank you to Congressman McGovern and his U.S. House of Representatives team for their leadership, partnership, and commitment to hearing directly from organizations serving our communities.

Grateful to everyone who joined: @repmcgovern @citymeals, @voagny, @nycfood, @robinhoodnyc, @rockefellerfdn, @lemontreefoodhelpline, @qns_together, @greenbronxmachine, @godslovenyc, @wscah_, & @refettorioharlem.

Spent the day volunteering at @wscah_ alongside our Leading hoteliers and local travel advisors. We’re so lucky to work in an industry built on caring for others, and it was meaningful to bring that same spirit to our local community. Grateful for this crew and the opportunity to give back! 🤍

By the numbers: 60 million meals served. 62.8 million pounds of food distributed. 5.3 million visits to food pantries and soup kitchens across NYC. This is what happens when New York’s front-line providers work together. 🧡

We’re proud to be a member of The Roundtable, a coalition of the leading emergency food and service providers in NYC. Read The Roundtable’s 2025 annual report at the link in bio.

💙 Our busiest Thursday yet! 💙

This Thursday was all about community, connection, and giving back! 🙌

We kicked off the day by welcoming our participants to an Information Session with breakfast, making sure everyone started their morning feeling supported and ready to learn.

During lunch, we were also able to provide fresh food to our students, thanks to Rescuing Leftover Cuisine!

And because it was the first Thursday of the month, we continued our monthly community food distribution by providing food boxes, thanks to West Side Campaign Against Hunger!

We’re proud to create a space where our community can learn, connect, access resources, and feel supported-all in one day!

A huge thank you to our partners for helping us make it possible! 🤝💙

"One family in Washington Heights would rather share a single apple among three children than risk standing in a food pantry line. Martina Santos knows this because she knows them. For over a decade, she has volunteered at West Side Campaign Against Hunger, checking in families, packing bags, and learning names. Lately, some of those names aren’t showing up anymore.

"La migra mala - they want to separate us," Santos said, using the Spanish term for ICE and immigration authorities, describing what she hears from families who no longer come.

They're not the only ones. In New York City, immigrant families are staying away from pantries, sending neighbors to pick up food, or going without entirely. According to the Deportation Data Project, between June and July alone, NYC saw 2,492 ICE arrests with detention. That fear is now showing up in pantry lines and communities. When ICE enforcement intensified in Minnesota last year, according to Food Bank News pantry visits dropped by up to 50 percent in some locations. Food pantries turned to mobile deliveries because it was the only way to reach families too scared to leave their homes, even for food."

Fear of ICE is keeping New Yorkers out of food pantry lines.

NYC pantries are adapting, bringing food to homes, churches, and community centers families already trust. But New York’s main hunger relief program doesn’t fund any of it. These programs run on private donations.

I reported on what’s happening and what it would take to fix it. Read the full story in @theindypendent , link in bio. | All photos on this post were taken by me.

July 27, 2026 - West Side Campaign Against Hunger ( @wscah_ ) works to meet customers where they are by providing fresh produce and groceries.

I'm very grateful to @plsdotell who asked me to work alongside her on this article!

New story out by yours truly. Link in bio.

Big thanks to @theindypendent for running this story.

When ICE enforcement intensified in Minneapolis, pantry visits dropped by up to 50 percent. Families stopped coming, not because the need disappeared, but because the risk of showing up became too high.

As ICE arrests keep rising in New York City, families are afraid to leave their homes for food and other basic necessities. I spoke with @wscah_ and @nycommonpantry about how they’re adapting with home delivery and mobile pantries. Families deserve to feel safe and to keep their dignity while getting the food they need, and right now that choice isn’t being funded.

Thank you to @wscah_ and @nycommonpantry for their time and trust. And a special thank you to @by.cris.a, who was on the ground with me to take photos and lend support. Grateful. 🙏🏽
