We as a business have written to the Prime Minister, alongside the #VATsTheProblem campaign and 800 other hospitality operators, to urge him to deliver on his support for a lower rate of hospitality VAT.β€―Β  Pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and leisure venues like mine are the heart of our communities, but rising costs are pushing many to breaking point.β€―Β  More than 370,000 people are already behind the campaign, but we need everyone. We urge you to add your name to the petition to show hospitality stands united.β€―Β  10% is fair for hospitality.β€―Β  Join us in support of the #VATsTheProblem campaign. Sign the petition. 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 π’ˆπ’π’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝒐𝒏? Come taste the Nekter Range in Shoreditch on Tuesday 22/9. 60 wines from California, South Africa and Australia. Trade and Press Only. (Sign-up tix in Bio). 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 π’•π’‰π’Šπ’” π’‘π’Šπ’‘π’†π’…π’“π’†π’‚π’Ž 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 2024 π’‘π’“π’Šπ’„π’Šπ’π’ˆ? In 2024 things were on a high for us, and so we took the, at the time, pretty ballsy decision to buy-in extra wines. We received two 40 footers in January 2024! π‘Ύπ’‰π’š? In late 2023 when we placed the orders this was partly to respond to increased demand, partly also to give us a chance to generate some bottle age on some of our wines. Something people had been asking for. In hindsight - this also locked in 2024 pricing. Many of these wines are now 20%-30% below comparable wines. We have specifically NOT updated the prices, in fact, some of them are lower than they were in 2024 due to the new duty regime. π‘Ύπ’‰π’š 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒏'𝒕 π’šπ’π’– 𝒖𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π’‘π’“π’Šπ’„π’†π’”? Because it's tough out there ... and this is a concrete chance for us to do something to actively help our partners to make at least some wines more affordable. 𝑾𝒐𝒏'𝒕 π’•π’‰π’Šπ’” π’Šπ’Žπ’‘π’‚π’„π’• π’šπ’π’–π’“ π’‘π’“π’Šπ’„π’†π’” 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆? Not necessarily. We believe as a key part of the wine eco-system there is more we can do to help our partners manage pricing. By working on volume purchases, sales, operations and using FX movements to our advantage we believe we can offer excellently priced wines. π‘Ήπ’†π’Žπ’Šπ’π’… π’Žπ’† π’˜π’‰π’ π’šπ’π’– 𝒂𝒓𝒆? We import minimal intervention wine from California, South Africa and Australia, working with over 20 producers.

Real change happens when we work together. One of our partners shares how they are embedding diversity, inclusion and safeguarding into everyday business practice, from anonymised CVs and DEI training, to mental health support and creating spaces where people feel safe to be themselves. Their journey highlights something important: DEI isn’t a one-off initiatives, it’s a long-term commitment that requires listening, learning and action. With over 90% of their team feeling included, the focus now shifts to improving diversity and continuing to build a workplace where everyone belongs. Because a more inclusive drinks industry doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens through collaboration, accountability and shared learning. Read the full interview- πŸ”— in bio.

Thank you to the @wstauk for an insightful afternoon at the WSTA Industry Summit. An informative panel discussion looking at the administrative, logistical and financial challenges of recent regulatory and legislative changes, followed by an inspiring keynote from the Queen of Shops herself, @maryportasofficial, and, of course, always wonderful to see friends and colleagues from across the trade.

🚨 New initiative alert: Beer Unlocked is here to help remove financial barriers for women in beer. Launched by @womenontap *Beer Unlocked* is an expanded bursary scheme designed to support women accessing opportunities across the beer industry, from collaboration brew days and networking events to learning and professional development. The scheme builds on a successful pilot, where: 🍺 67% of recipients said they wouldn't have attended an International Women's Collaboration Brew Day without financial support. 🍺 100% reported a positive impact on their skills, confidence, networking and career progression. 🍺 100% said bursary schemes like this are important. With women making up just 7% of brewers in the UK, financial barriers such as travel costs, childcare and lost income continue to limit access to opportunities within the industry. Beer Unlocked aims to change that by creating accessible pathways into beer through a simple, trust-based application process that removes barriers rather than creating them. Applications open 15 June 2026. Find out more check out @womenontap Because talent shouldn't be limited by access. πŸ»πŸ’œ

The response to Vintage PoliticsοΏΌ has exceeded anything we imagined. From coverage in The Times, The Telegraph and The Independent to features across leading wine and media trade publications, the show has quickly established itself as one of the most talked-about new podcasts in the UK. In the last month alone, Vintage Politics has reached more than 45,000 viewers on YouTube, alongside thousands of streams and downloads across podcast platforms β€” placing the show in the top 5% of new podcasts shortly after launch. What has made the series special, however, is the calibre of the conversation: political insiders, journalists, broadcasters and public figures sharing stories, reflections and moments from history over extraordinary wines. As work begins on Series Two, conversations are already underway with a number of potential partners and collaborators across wine, travel, hospitality and luxury brands. For those interested in being part of the next chapter of Vintage Politics β€” whether through featured partnerships, sponsorship or live events β€” we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Important conversations @london_wine_fair this week as Drinks United shared findings from the first independent industry-wide culture survey exploring workplace culture, safety and inclusion across the drinks sector. The statistics were powerful: β€’ 1 in 3 people experienced discrimination or harassment at work β€’ 1 in 4 considered leaving the industry due to workplace culture β€’ 1 in 5 reported feeling unsafe at work The discussion chaired by Nicky Burston and with insights from Lulie Halstead, Laura Jewell and Kat Brown, was not just on the challenges, but on the responsibility we all share in creating safer, fairer and more supportive workplaces across hospitality and drinks. What came through strongly was the importance of listening, accountability and moving beyond performative conversations into practical action. As Nicky Burston said: β€œIt’s all difficult. Just break it down. It’s all doable.” A really important and necessary conversation for the future of our industry.
