The message ahead of the Budget is clear: the UK wine and spirit sector needs support, not further tax rises.

Sam Honey, WSTA's Head of Government Affairs, shares why alcohol duty is putting pressure on businesses across the supply chain, from producers and retailers to hospitality, and why the Government must act.

With the UK already facing some of the highest excise duty rates in Europe, we’re calling for a cut in alcohol duty.

The Budget provides an opportunity to help boost Treasury funds, back British businesses, support consumers and allow the industry get back on its feet.

The Budget is coming. And we have a clear message for Government.

It’s time to cut alcohol duty.

The wine and spirit industry supports businesses, jobs and communities right across the UK, but continued pressure on businesses is putting that contribution at risk.

A series of punishing tax rises has pushed up prices and hit consumers and the @ukhmtreasury funds hard. With sales declining so has the money coming into the Exchequer. No-one is benefiting from the burdens being placed on our industry.

The Autumn Budget is an opportunity to support the sector, protect jobs and help British businesses get back on their feet.

Watch our latest video to see why we’re calling for action.

CUT ALCOHOL DUTY.
