The culture is bridging continents as Caribbean flair meets West African heat. 💥

The 66th Annual NYC Nigerian Independence Day Parade transformed Manhattan into an unforgettable cross-continental link-up. While giants like Patoranking, Runtown, and BNXN held down the main stages, the parade route was pure high-octane energy.

Barbadian soca star DJ Cheem teamed up with Guyanese-Nigerian powerhouse DJ NFazo to drop a seamless blend of Soca and West African sounds . Suga Candy Mas brought ultimate carnival vibes with stunning models alongside pro athletes Dr. Sarah “Cheeks” Ogoke and Lucy Ibeh. Mickael Marabou was also on site representing the Haitian community with their own float on the route.

Brought to life by OAN President Tomi Aregbesola, Francis James Jr., with massive execution from Wunmi Aregbesola, the celebration drew out thousands, including Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Cleotrapa, and ScarLip.

Special shout-out to DJ @yung.aphrika 🎶

Though Detty December was weeks ago, and temperatures are less than the price of agage bread in NYC, the highlight reel wouldn’t be as telling of how life changing the trip was.

Dare I say, a group of middle age adults, whom when around each other turn into giggling teenagers found ourselves in Lagos, Nigeria some whom never been and others over a decade. Together we reminisced growing up in nyc during the 90s in Nigerian households and reuniting every Sunday to have the same shared experiences.

We mimicked our parents native tongue, had belly laughs of iconic characters we can never forget, and somehow this brought us back where it all started. We found ourselves wondering how our parents made a decision to leave this land, how did they find themselves as a community and how are we keeping it together.

We may not speak often or see one another regularly, but the love between us was undeniable, and the time we spent in our true home was deeply transformative.

Big Love to the CAC family! I love yall deep ❤️
