Today I put on the white coat I’ve dreamed about for so long.

If you had told freshman-year me that I’d be here, I probably would’ve laughed… mostly because I was convinced chemistry was going to end my pharmacy dreams. Turns out, life doesn’t end when you suck at chemistry. 🤣

This white coat is a reminder that one difficult class, a few setbacks, or a moment of self-doubt doesn’t define your future. Keep showing up, keep putting in the work, and trust the process.

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who believed in me, supported me, and helped me reach this milestone. This is only the beginning, and I can’t wait to continue learning, serving others, and becoming the pharmacist I’ve always hoped to be. Here’s to the next chapter. 💙🥼💊

Today was another powerful day at Hajee House. 💙💜

We had the honor of welcoming visitors from Davidson County, Thomasville, and Wingate University to see what harm reduction looks like in action.

There were no long introductions—they jumped right in. They helped pass out bags, learned about our outreach process, and got a firsthand look at our Rover outreach units. Dominique walked everyone through how our Rovers operate in the streets, making sure our community has access to life-saving supplies wherever they are.

One of the moments that meant the most was when Brent from Wingate University’s Pharmacy Program simply asked, “What can I do to help?” He immediately started talking about donating, providing next week’s meal, and reaching out to his partners and friends to see how they can support Hajee House.

That’s what community looks like.

Every partnership starts with one conversation, one visit, and one person willing to step up. Today reminded us that when people truly see the work, they want to be part of the solution.

Thank you to everyone who spent the day with us. We are excited about the relationships we’re building and what we can accomplish together.

This is what Hajee House does. This is why we do it. Together, we’re saving lives—one partnership at a time. 💙🖤

Clinical decisions are only half the story. Helping patients access, afford, and stick with their therapy? That’s where pharmacists change outcomes every day.

Shawn Riser Taylor, PharmD, CPP, CDCES of Appalachian Mountain Health breaks down the real-world challenges behind diabetes care and the impact pharmacists make that patients often never see.
