✨Join us this Saturday for the Sechelt Arts Festival Reception and Exhibition launch! Featuring artists: Bracken Hanuse Corlett, Jessica Silvey + Robert Joe, Laiwan and others. 💫 Exhibition Opening + Sechelt Arts Festival Reception 📅 Saturday, September 19th, 6PM, Free 📍 Sunshine Coast Arts Centre • 5714 Medusa St., Sechelt 🔗More info in bio ✨Water Wings for the Big Waves by Bracken Hanuse Corlett Up and down the pacific northwest coast there are stories shared of the great flood. They speak about the rising waters, the urgency to escape to higher ground and coming down to start over again after the water recedes. In my home community, Wuikinuxv, it is said the People who survived the flood climbed the mountain known as Kvauma (seat of the eagle) to escape the push of the ocean water. ✨Great snow, floodwaters and other stories by Robert Joe and Jessica Silvey shíshálh oral narratives describing the great flood, the great snow and the great landslide speak to significant events in the collective history of the shíshálh swiya. According to one, a global cataclysmic flood occurred, impacting the swiya. The shíshálh people survived the flood by using their canoes to form a raft and anchoring their canoes to an uprooted Yew tree that floated to the top of kel’s mountain (“Anchor Mountain”). When the flood receded, the tree wedged itself to the mountain and remained there for a long time. This soundwork shares these and other stories and recollections. ✨ Laiwan's "How Water Remembers" explores False Creek and how biodiversity and cultural diversity remembers, a flow of a way of life, a return of ancestral worldviews, traditional knowledge and stewardships, training an agile consciousness. It invites us to play, build compassion and build awareness and cultural value in developing sustainable ecologies for humans and biodiversity. By increasing ecological biodiversity, scientists believe we can slow down global warming and also increase protections against future pandemics. ✨Come to the opening reception and celebrate the start of this wonderful festival! #secheltartsfestival #risingwaters #shishalhswiya

We are excited to show Bracken Hanuse Corlett and Dean Hunt’s We SEE Monsters (2019) on the Belkin’s outdoor screen this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 18, 19 and 20, 2026 as part of ʔəm̓i ce:p xʷiwəl (Come Toward the Fire), an outdoor concert and gathering presented by the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam). We SEE Monsters is a short animation directed by Bracken Hanuse Corlett that begins with a skipper and a fisherman out at sea. One is focused on the moon, while the other remains intent on the water. Then, we abruptly leave their world and dive deep into the realms below, where monsters are the conductors of ceremony. The animation is in a panoramic format, as it was originally made to be projected on the outside of the Vancouver Art Gallery for the Burrard Art Foundation’s Facade Festival. It was animated by the team at Spotted Fawn Productions.#

We’re thrilled to announce Haboolm Ksinaałgat (SOUL CATCHER) as an official selection of the Edmonton International Film Festival @edmfilmfest (EIFF) (Sept. 24- Oct 3/26).  After a supernatural journey propels them all the way from the banks of the Skeena River to a big metropolitan city - an ancient Ts’msyen shaman, her reluctant teenaged apprentice and Gaax the raven find themselves in a major museum, after dark, surrounded by sacred treasures stolen from far away lands. In the old shaman’s words “We hope you all get out of this jail and back home soon!” Ultimately the mission is left to the young apprentice Lu’oo’ya to find a way to bring the sacred treasures of the Ts’msyen back home to the Skeena River. This powerful scene in our new stop motion animated film Haboolm Ksinaałgat (SOUL CATCHER) was a tour de force of northwest coast Indigenous art design and innovation. We collaborated with three northwest coast artists/carvers Phil Gray (Ts’msyen), Dean Hunt @dean_hunt_art (Heiltsuk) and Bracken Hanuse Corlett @wuulhu (Wuikinuxv/Klahoose) to design original totem poles for the museum scene.  Over many months of process, their designs were turned into 3D models and prints to become miniature totem poles for the magic of stop motion production and set design to create this powerful and authentic setting for a climactic and emotional scene. A massive team effort across many departments!! At the heart of Haboolm Ksinaalgat (SOUL CATCHER) is a true childhood story from screenwriter Pamela Post's Ts'msyen father. Pamela Post, Amanda Strong & Spotted Fawn Productions have joined forces to tell that story. They’ve wrapped it in a gwishalaayt (Chilkat robe) of supernatural, shape-shifting Ts’msyen adventure and characters on a mission of love and reckoning, about to make its World Premiere at TIFF in September! Big thanks to our amazing team, funders and supporters who believed in this story and long process of stop motion animation. Special shout out to actor Jesse Stretch for braving this important role of Father McTavish and Anna for your tender animation of this moment in the film. Funded by: Canada Council For the Arts, Shaw Rocket Fund, Indigenous Screen Office, Spotted Fawn Productions, First People’s Cultural Council, and BC Arts Council. @indigenousscreen @rocketfundcanada #tiff #soulcatcher #stopmotion #ts’msyen #animation @pamelapostmedia @tantoo.cardinal @wuulhu @ninawerewka @markrobertwhiting @alphabrette @teataup @stretchjesse @firebeasty @dannyguay @patrickzung @anna.berezowsky @norrogers @standing.figure @terrb0t @georginahayns @inkexplodez @edovanb @matthewlilliput @katestransky @tobybabybot @monstrous.creations @_punchy_ @mkchibs @officialnicoleoliver @n_almeida @indigenousscreen @miqueldangeli @the_house_of_copper @torah.z @jeffryrob @michellehwu @deannapeedee @minewbob @ashstopmo @tobybabybot @whosellaa @elly_stern @dean_hunt_art @tylerbanich @emilycarru

Amanda Strong (Director/Producer/Editor), Pamela Post (Co-Director/Screenplay) and Spotted Fawn Productions are thrilled to announce that our short stop motion animated Ts’msyen film, Haboolm Ksinaalgat (SOUL CATCHER), is making its WORLD PREMIERE at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) this September! We’re so grateful and honoured, after over 4 years work on this beautiful Indigenous stop motion film starring Cree/Métis actress Tantoo Cardinal and Ts’msyen/German/Scottish-Canadian actor/musician Asher Maclaren, to have it showcased at TIFF. Based on a true story from Pamela Post’s Ts’msyen father John Post, Soul Catcher sets out to right a wrong through art and to celebrate Ts’msyen worldviews and ways. With Amanda and Spotted Fawn Production’s artistry, Pamela’s story has transformed into Haboolm Ksinaalgat (Soul Catcher) - a stunning stop motion animated film filled with time-travelling supernatural adventures and Indigenous love and reckoning - and we can’t wait to share it with the world!  More details, pics and trailers coming soon!  Wayi wah!
