Forever in love with the simple beauty of tea altars 🤍

For this one we selected:

• ceremonial textiles by @deyi.living, where everything is handmade with care and love by the female artisans from the Dong indigenous community, according to ancestral gesture and naturally dyed with medicinal plants in the mountains of Guizhou.
• tea vessels brought back from our last trip to China made by the Dai Community in the tropical jungle of southern Yunnan Province
• ceremonial place by @wuweito

Tea altars in March 🍃
moments suspended sipping the clouds, the sky, the earth and the roots of humanity.

“I completely let go of the “Artist Ego” and entrust the final outcome to the fire. Part of the work is to surrender to the One and As a human devoted to the Soil and Fire, I understood that I never work alone, and the work is not “mine”.

That said, my mind does enjoy reading books, diaries, archives, and learning about ancient methods, chemistry, and geology. This allows me to move through nature with more confidence and to understand how matter transforms once it’s inside the kiln—but that represents less than 30% of the work. The final outcome is completely out of my control, and I’m at peace with that.”

@wuweito is often asked where her work can be found, whether there’s a website, a catalogue, a link to purchase. She doesn’t work online in a conventional way.

She moves through four work cycles each year, creating only a small number of pieces at a time. These works are usually received immediately. For her, connection is essential. She offers her pieces only to those who understand the work and who take seriously their relationship with the piece they feel drawn to.

These vessels are not objects. They are companions. For this reason, they aren’t meant for everyone, but for those who truly hear the call.

Available pieces are shared quietly through the impermanence of Instagram Stories. Whoever is meant to be there, is present in that moment.

Occasionally, she opens a limited number of commissions. Each piece is made in prayer, with full devotion to one person and one vessel at a time.

“Who I am at the moment is not of primary importance, part of The Work revolves around un-becoming. Un-becoming what I believe I AM, un-becoming an Artist, or a ceramist.

I would say that my story began as Martina. I was born in the heart of Italy, Umbria, in a small village near the woods. I grew up immersed in the teachings of San Francesco of Assisi, who became my first Teacher, shaping my perspective on simplicity, devotion, and connection with nature.

Currently, I’m spending some time working in my homeland, connecting with my Etruscan heritage and doing research for The Work: clay is the medium I work with. Life has carried me toward a natural interest in Chinese and Japanese ceramics for tea service, and this is what I am dedicating my life to.”

/ @wuweito (Martina Wu) is just a tiny part of what is happening right here, right now.
