Bringing community creativity to Golden Gate Avenue! 🎨 Last Friday, neighbors and local organizations came together for a Golden Gate Greenway community mural design session. Led by BR Demko and Lily Chandrasekher with the mural team, the interactive workshop gave community members an opportunity to share ideas and help shape the future street and sidewalk mural.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, including @tlcbd, @wuyeesf, and @ccg.sf for helping bring this community vision to life! Want to be part of the process? Join us for the next community design session on Friday, November 13, 12–2 PM: Community Mural Feedback Session Two at Larkin Street Youth, 134 Golden Gate Avenue.

What would it take for the Tenderloin to become a neighborhood where everyone feels safe, supported, and welcome?

At the District 5 Tenderloin Family Summit, participants celebrated the neighborhood’s cultural diversity, community organizations, and strong connections while sharing their priorities for the future:

• Safer, cleaner streets and sidewalks
• Stronger school, mental health, and afterschool support
• Easier access to programs and services
• More affordable housing and economic opportunities
• Welcoming spaces for families and neighbors to gather

I’ve watched three-year-olds in Head Start learn to breathe through big feelings. I’ve seen children arrive anxious and dysregulated and leave class calm, strong, and smiling.

That access is now at serious risk. 💔

Head Start — the program that has served 700,000 of America’s youngest and most vulnerable children since 1965 — is facing its most serious funding threats in decades. Federal regulations covering literacy, health, and enrichment are being stripped. And advocates warn that states will not fill the gaps. 😔

By age five, 90% of a child’s brain architecture is already formed. What happens in those early years shapes everything. Research is clear: early childhood health outcomes are directly correlated with lifelong academic success.

Every child — regardless of zip code or family income — deserves to feel strong, calm, and joyful. That is not a political value. It is a human one.

Read the full blog at the link in bio 🔗and share it for the children who cannot advocate for themselves.

There’s a lot on the ballot. Let’s talk about it over a plate.

We’re bringing the neighborhood together for good food, a live DJ, family fun, and a reminder that our voices matter. Come get registered to vote, learn about what’s on the ballot, hang out with friends and neighbors, and have a good time at The People’s Cookout.

Wu Yee just opened a new Children’s Hub to serve families in the Mission. Here, families can find playgroups, get help navigating childcare, and find caseworkers they trust without having to leave their neighborhood.

Early support for families helps them see a future for themselves and their children in our city. If you have a young child in San Francisco, you should be able to find childcare you can trust and afford. We will continue supporting providers like Wu Yee that do this work every single day.
