I was pleased to attend the Ventura County CoLAB (Coalition of Labor, Agriculture, and Business) annual meeting, following a thoughtful invitation from Executive Director Amanda Gordon, who shared the organization’s vision for the year ahead. VC CoLAB is a nonprofit advocacy organization founded in 2010. It monitors local regulations, conducts economic research, and represents business, labor, and agricultural interests to help shape public policy and support Ventura County’s local economy. I find great value in attending these business events because they let me build relationships with employers, better understand economic conditions, and share my policy priorities. These gatherings also offer useful insight into labor market needs, supply chain challenges, and the practical effects of local, state, and federal policies. They provide an accessible forum for business leaders to raise regulatory concerns and for me to discuss upcoming policy and budget considerations. My participation also helps strengthen community support for projects and highlight local economic development efforts and achievements.

A new business. A new investment in Downtown Oxnard. Last week, we celebrated the ribbon cutting for DRAW Architectural Printing at 137 W. Second Street! 🎉 Serving architects, contractors, designers and property owners, DRAW helps turn plans into projects with blueprint and construction printing services. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was organized by the West Ventura County Business Alliance, with President & CEO Andy Conli, Oxnard Mayor Luis McArthur and Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association Chair Angela Whitecomb joining in the celebration and welcoming the business to our downtown community. DRAW’s decision to locate downtown highlights what our district offers: a central location, proximity to City services and a place in Oxnard’s business community. A thriving downtown includes businesses that help other businesses succeed. We were pleased to celebrate this latest investment in Downtown Oxnard and wish the DRAW Architectural Printing team continued success! 📍 137 W. I was pleased to join family, business, and community members in celebrating Johnny and Laura’s grand opening of Draw Architectural Printing, a family-owned local print shop conveniently located at 137 E. Second Street, near the City of Oxnard Building & Safety Office. Draw Architectural Printing specializes in large-format printing and document preparation for the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. Its services include permit-ready document preparation, same-day blueprints, large-format CAD prints, field-ready sets, and digital scanning. The shop also provides drafting assistance for residential and commercial projects, including ADUs and remodels, as well as construction estimates and material takeoffs. Customers can submit digital files through the Draw Architectural Printing File Upload portal for rapid production and processing.

What a day! 🎉✂️ Our official DRAW Architectural Printing ribbon cutting is in the books! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and helped make this day so special. For us, DRAW is about more than printing plans. It’s about building something that gives back to the community we call home. We’re especially proud to serve Oxnard’s Latino community by offering services in both English and Spanish, helping make the resources local builders, contractors, and families need more accessible. A special shoutout to **WVCBA** for putting this all together and showing up in such a big way to support us! 💙 And thank you to the City of Oxnard and its representatives for joining Laura, Johnny, and the DRAW team for this milestone! And to the Mayor of Oxnard for taking the time to celebrate with us. Here’s to growing together, supporting local, and building something bigger than ourselves! 🖨️💙 @downtownoxnard @wvcballiance @mayorluismcarthur #oxnard #community #blueprints #printshop #ribboncutting
