🚨 PLEASE HELP US KEEP THE SAFE HOUSE OPEN. WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME. 😔🐾

We are now just over 10 days away from potentially losing the Loutraki Safe House due to lack of funds.

Thanks to a kind recent donation, we are a little closer, but we are still €250 short on rent and around €100 on electricity. Without this money, we may have to close our doors.

With my personal situation becoming increasingly difficult and Oksana already overwhelmed financially, this could be the first month where we are not able to cover the rent.

My return to Greece keeps getting postponed for financial reasons, and I've struggled to keep this Instagram account active. Unfortunately, that has also meant very little financial support coming in at a time when we desperately need it.

I knew from the beginning that keeping this place running would be difficult, and I've tried everything I could to make it sustainable. But the truth is, I cannot do this alone. I'm struggling to cover even my own basic expenses and feed my dogs, while so many animals still need food, medication, veterinary care, sterilisation, vaccinations and homes.

💔 AND THEN THERE IS PLUTO.

The last six months at the Safe House have been the best of Pluto's life. After spending over two years in a dark basement, he has transformed into a happier, healthier & more trusting dog. He has finally experienced freedom, safety and affection.

We have been searching for his forever home for months, but so far, without success. We recently had a promising conversation with a potential adopter, but unfortunately, things did not work out.

If the Safe House closes, Pluto has nowhere safe to go. Oksana is already caring for numerous cats and three dogs, one of whom cannot live alongside Pluto. Returning him to the basement or leaving him on the streets is simply not an option.

We are urgently looking for a temporary foster for Pluto while we continue searching for his forever family. If you can help, please get in touch.

We have also started preparing a space in a nearby field for some of the cats who already live there, as we try to plan for the possibility of losing the apartment.

🔊 We share a lot of Stories about Ugandan scammers who are to be reported across social media platforms & on SMACC — fake rescues who mutilate cats & dogs to collect donations.

💸 Despite the enacted animal welfare law, corruption in Uganda allows these scammers to operate with impunity. The law is not enforced — animal suffering grows exponentially.

✅ Last but not least: it goes without saying that there are genuine rescues & volunteers in Uganda, and one of them is @wwbsadoptions. They rescue cats & dogs from sham shelters & do their utmost to give these survivors a second chance at life.

UPDATE:

We are now all out of funds. 😞

Rent was due today. The remaining €182.50 in the fund was sent toward it and Oksana has covered the rest out of her own pocket. To date, I have transferred a total of €1,356.85 to cover Safe House expenses, which is in line with everything that has been raised and donated so far. We are grateful for every euro but this cycle of scraping together rent every month is taking its toll (scroll for receipts and the transfers made).

The reality is we have been stuck in a loop. All energy goes to paying rent, keeping animals fed and dealing with emergencies. Everything else, the sterilization program, adoptions, building something sustainable, keeps getting pushed back. We need to break out of this cycle.

Some good news for once. The kitten with the injured foot has been successfully operated on and is recovering at the vet. He will be returned to us once he is ready and we will find him a forever home!

Meli's kittens are healthy and growing fast. As soon as they are old enough she will finally be sterilized as planned.

Pluto is doing well. Thanks to the support of @my_furbabies_and_friends there has even been some interest in adopting him, though it has not worked out yet. He needs a forever home and without the Safe House he has nowhere to go. Please keep sharing his story!

With the possibility of having to close doors becoming more likely, we need to try to do as much as possible for these animals!

Our next big goal is vaccinating as many of them as possible. At €20 per animal we understand that it will not be cheap. On top of that we still have to pay the rent, feed everyone, deal with emergencies, buy medicine, fund Pluto's tooth infection & adoption, and sterilize as many animals as possible. Every/any contribution brings us closer to achieving the above goals & hopefully keep the doors open.

With the lack of updates on Instagram, there has also been a lack of support. Understandable & I am responsible for that. 😔 There have been more bad days than good ones. But we are still here & we are still trying.

Every share & every donation helps us keep this whole thing going. Gofundme Link in bio!

Thank you! ️🙏🐾❤️

Sometimes you meet someone who fights for animals with a heart that doesn’t break, even when everything around them does. Nicola is one of those people.

She’s carrying more than anyone should have to, yet she keeps going — for the dogs, for honesty, for what’s right.

I just want her to know she’s not alone.

There are people who see her, who appreciate her, who feel her strength.

Keep going, Nicola. Your integrity and love for the dogs matter more than you know.
❤️🐾

Even though I’m on a break, I needed to post this.

Please guys, support wherever you can, everything is appreciated.

First, my sincere apologies for the silence.

My phone died a few weeks ago and I drowned in everything that came after. I am still in Spain with Bobby and Leo, both of whom have been having health issues that needed to be urgently taken care of. On top of that I moved house and have been doing everything I can just to keep myself afloat financially. Running the Safe House remotely while dealing with all of that has been brutal and I want to be honest about that rather than pretend everything is fine.

So here is where things actually stand.
We have tried to get animals adopted. No success. We have reached out to TNR organisations and the local government. No success. We have tried to make the Safe House sustainable. Still no success. We have raised money for specific things and then an urgent case hits and the funds go there instead. That has been the reality of running an open door rescue with no safety net.

Oksana has been holding everything together on the ground alone, with little money and almost no time. The animals keep coming, keep getting sick, keep getting pregnant and keep getting injured. That does not stop because I am struggling.

Here are the updates (scroll to the next photo) 👉

Meli (the sponsored cat) has given birth again to 4 kittens. She is doing well and will be sterilized as soon as the kittens are old enough, as originally planned. It was an unfortunate situation that we were not able to deal with in time and we will make sure that it will not happen again. Terribly sorry to first and foremost, Meli and of course her sponsor as well as every single one of you that have been supporting us.

The kitten with the crushed paw is in the care of the vet and will have his foot amputated soon. The government is funding the operation. When he recovers he will come back to us and we will find him a forever home. More updates and photos on him soon. (Not sharing any photos here as Instagram flagged is for sensitive content on the last post).

Pluto has recovered from his illness and is still waiting for his forever home. Months have passed and not a single person has come forward with interest. He has nowhere to go if the Safe

MEET MOOSE
🪬
On 7th May, this handsome boy was found wandering the streets alongside his friend, Rager. No one knows how long they had been trying to survive on their own, but that day marked the beginning of a new chapter for Moose.
🩵
Now it’s time for the happiest chapter of all... finding his forever family.
🩵
Moose is around 3-4 years old, a medium-sized Hound Cross, with the gentlest soul and the biggest heart.
🩵
He absolutely adores children.
:: He gets along beautifully with every dog at the shelter.
- He enjoys car rides.
His favourite thing in the world is cuddles, affection, and simply being close to his people.
🩵
Moose has so much love to give. He’s kind, loyal, and asks for so little in return-just a family to call his own.
🩵
He deserves a warm bed to curl up in every night.
He deserves a home where he’s welcomed with smiles and wagging tails
Most of all, he deserves to be loved as deeply as he loves everyone he meets
Moose is ready to travel to meet the family he’s been waiting for his whole life.
🩵
Please share Moose’s story. Every share gives him another chance to be seen by the person who has been looking for a dog just like him. His forever home could be only one share away
🦋
Moose is currently in Cyprus and will come to the UK when he has a home. Adoption fee and home check will apply.
🩵
Please message the page @savingsoulsanimalrescue to register interest.

🐾 Please Help Us Care for Our 33 Rescue Dogs 🐾
Our rescue in Mityana, Uganda, is home to 33 wonderful dogs who depend entirely on us for food and essential veterinary care.
Right now, we urgently need help to cover:
🐶 Routine deworming
🦟 Flea and tick treatment
🍚 Food for all 33 dogs
Routine parasite prevention keeps our dogs healthy and protects them from diseases caused by worms, fleas, and ticks. At the same time, providing enough food every day is a constant challenge.
Our current goal is to raise £2,000, which will cover:
Essential deworming for all 33 dogs
Flea and tick prevention for all 33 dogs
Approximately one month's supply of food
Every pound makes a difference.
💜 £5 helps feed a dog. 💜 £10 helps provide parasite treatment. 💜 Any amount helps us get closer to our goal.
If you can't donate, please share this post. Your support gives these dogs a chance to stay healthy, safe, and loved.
Thank you for believing in our mission and for standing with our rescue dogs. Together, we can give them the care they deserve.
