A polar bear and her cub come close to equipment placed by scientists from Polarstern, a ship that is part of a scientific expedition investigating the consequences of Arctic climate change, in the central Arctic Ocean, on 10 October 2019.

The Arctic harbors some of the fastest-retreating sea ice on the planet and has twice the average global heating rate. This will strongly affect the global climate in terms of increasing temperatures and sea-level rise, yet Arctic climate system processes are poorly represented in climate models. This is because until now scientific missions have not been able to penetrate the region during the six-month long night of the Arctic winter. The Polarstern is the central ship of an expedition run by the Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate (MOSAiC), especially designed to withstand extremely low temperatures and break through thicker ice, enabling around 100 researchers and crew to work all year round. MOSAiC data on the atmosphere, ocean, sea ice, ecosystem and biogeochemistry will be fed into global climate models.

Next up in our video series from the inaugural Food Made Good Awards Ceremony is @feteuphk! Fête Up cafe implements many sustainable sourcing practices, including developing a menu focused on healthy, well-balanced, plant-forward ingredients. Fête Up are also environmentally conscious as the site does not use cooking gas and sets targets to reduce their waste, energy and water.

Founder Wei Kwan believes that anyone can "Slowly build up and improve over time on their sustainability. Do not think how meagre or insignificant you are as an individual, because big things come in small steps."

spent a great day in nature and with these humongous TREEEEES🌳🌲 It is a great way for us to reconnect with ourselves and to feel present and grounded again

If you have seen my stories I’m sure you may know by now I love hanging in nature, and I always remind myself that we as humans are just o n e of the millions living species on this Earth, and we are NOT the only living thing.
Sometimes we think ourselves too highly that we forget we are sharing all the finite resources with all the other living creatures. We as humans need oxygen to survive, and who keep producing that for us? 🌳 😇

🌏What’s the point of #EarthHour? The energy/light reduction is minuscule, if at all. In fact, a worldwide lights-out could mean more CO2 emitted when everyone switches back on. Did a bunch of well-intentioned activists get it all wrong? Or did a marketing stunt overpower the true message and ‘stunted’ impact in the process?

Well, #WWF 🐼 outlines clearly the goal is to “harness the power of the crowd” and to “draw public attention to nature loss and the climate crisis.” Still, some see this as feel-good activism that deludes people into thinking they’ve done their part for the year. Even if that were true, it got even more people talking and thinking.

We should be thrilled people are questioning, because that means they are aware and they care. Cynicism is bad only if you stop there. A healthy dose though leads to educating yourself and others on how to take action towards real change. 💡Step up your own game while pushing for government and industry to do the same.

Earth Hour has its place as a conversation starter. Then it’s up to us to take it further.

Support 2021 Earth Hour

Connect to Earth🌏

The "Earth Hour" campaign initiated by WWF is now one of the world's largest grassroots movements for the environment. Held every year on the last Saturday of March, Earth Hour engages millions of people in more than 180 countries and territories, switching off their lights to show support for our planet.

Loupe calls on everyone to respond to environmental protection and take practical actions to reduce global warming! Let's switch off the lights at 830pm on March 27, to connect with millions of people of our community and connect to Earth🌏

Two chefs - one cause 🌍

For the official Earth Hour 🌱 we're throwing it back to last week's Dinner with Corey and @chefpeggychan where together, they created a menu based on the following solutions to reduce carbon footprint starting from the plate 🍽

💚 Refrigerant management
💚 Reducing food waste
💚 Utilising silvopasture
💚 Consuming a mainly plant-based diet
💚 Using clean energy
💚 and restoring our tropical forests

The next Dinner with Corey; Sustainable Seafood 🦞 will take place on June 18th to celebrate World Oceans Day.
Keep an eye on our feed to be the first to find out more!
