Building a future where Filipinos live in harmony with nature

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

You’ve heard of the Bermuda Triangle. Maybe even the Golden Triangle. But what about the #CoralTriangle?

Spanning six countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, the Coral Triangle is the most biologically diverse marine region on Earth, home to majority of the world’s coral species, thousands of reef fish, and hundreds of millions of people who depend on it for food, livelihood, and protection.

Yet this vital marine region is under increasing pressure from climate change, habitat loss, overfishing, and pollution.

When presented with an opportunity to secure a brighter future, the onus is on us to act.

Centred on the theme “What we eat matters,” World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines’ (WWF-PH) Culinary Giving Series explores the undeniable link between our food systems and our ecosystems. As WWF-Philippines National Ambassador Mark Nelson notes, “Food security and conservation are inextricable.”

The campaign kicked off at Tatler Best 20 Restaurant Metiz, Makati City on October 1. Returning to his all-local philosophy, executive chef Stephan Duhesme demonstrated the incredible potential of Philippine ingredients—provided we actively nurture local food systems and empower our producers.

Every dinner directly supports WWF’s conservation initiatives. Ready to join the cause? Learn more about what @wwfphilippines does via wwf.org.ph.

🌳 For #SaveSierraMadreDay, we brought companies to the Angat Watershed Forest Reserve to learn more about the forests, watersheds, biodiversity, and the forest-dependent communities that sustain lives and economies.

🫶 The learning visit highlighted how businesses can contribute to forest conservation through knowledge, resources, and meaningful partnerships that support communities and critical ecosystems.

🖱️ Read the full story and discover how businesses can work with Forest Foundation to support forest conservation and the landscapes that sustain us: www.forestfoundation.ph/news.

🤙 Let’s work together to protect and sustainably manage forests for water, land productivity, and biodiversity—with the overarching goal of sustaining ecosystem services and advancing forest-related climate action.

I'm a lucky kid. A childhood full of moving countries, exceptional adventures and stories. Adulthood - aside from some dark nights of the soul - gave me more of the same.

Including experiences like this one in 2019.

For a brief time I joined the @wwf team in Donsol, Philippines, helping tag whale sharks and go on ocean-mapping expeditions.

But there’s a flip side to it.

When you've been taught to read the language of awe, it comes with an unrealistic standard for seeking meaning.

I have a tendency to search for the sublime in the mundane. To be impressed by the shape of a coffee cup or a peculiar way someone speaks.

In part, it's why I made ETHOS.

I created a path for you to fall deeply in love with what you're here to do.

The gifts that come so naturally to you, you stop considering them remarkable.

When truly, they're the reason why someone chooses to work with you.

You don't need to find what makes you different. You need to look closer at what's already there.

ETHOS is six weeks of us looking closer. Then bring what we find to the forefront of your business.

Comment ‘ETHOS’ and I'll send you more details.

For the love,
Roel

The most beautiful birthday celebration I could have ever wished for. 28.8. 🏍️❤️🐾

Usually, I keep a few dog treats in my backpack just in case I run into a stray. But August 28th was a big day, so my boyfriend and I bought huge bags of dog food, hopped on a motorbike in El Nido, and spent the whole day feeding those who cannot help themselves.

Many of the dogs were very shy and scared at first. We had to give them space, step back, and wait for them to build up the courage to come closer and grab some food.
Every single moment when fear turned into a wagging tail and a grateful look was the best birthday gift ever. 🥺✨

My heart is absolutely full. Blowing out the birthday candles at the end of the day, I had only one wish—for more days like this on two wheels.

Last year, I was tapped to organize a community project for @jciphilippinesofficial Olongapo and @wildlifeinneed_subicbay was the first organization that came to mind.

What started as a simple idea ended up bringing almost 100 people together to help the rescue center.

It also opened doors for WIN to connect with more people and businesses around Subic. @triboa.subic, @daloybistro , @aurora.subic, @horizonssubic, @iloveharborpoint, and @lighthousesubic came in to support, and eventually other organizations like @rotaryinternational Subic Pearl, @breastfeedingpinays, @contentomediaph, Hospitality Alliance of SBFZ, Youth for Environment in Schools Organization, Sangguniang Kabataan, and @doersphilippines also found ways to help.

Looking back at these photos, I’m reminded of what we were able to do simply because people showed up.

A lot has changed for me since then. After my dad passed, my priorities changed too. But WIN is one of those causes I promised I would continue to support however I can.

So I’m asking for your help this time.

WIN really needs us right now.

They’re currently running short on food for their rescued animals because of financial difficulties and the recent typhoons. Some of the animals are also sick and need proper nutrition and care.

If you have any vegetables or fruits you can spare, even a small amount would already help them get through the next few days.

You can message WIN directly if you’d like to donate, or bring your donations to the rescue center.

And if you can’t donate right now, even sharing this might help this reach someone who can.

We showed up for them before. I’m hoping we can do it again.

🌱 From Commitment to Action: Mangrove Policy in Practice

The Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA) Policy Working Group has launched Mangrove Law and Policy in Practice: 2026 Case Studies, featuring 16 national and regional case studies from around the world.

The publication highlights how governments, researchers, civil society, and coastal communities are turning global commitments into stronger policies and practical action for mangrove conservation, restoration, and sustainable management.

From science-based restoration and climate policy to blue carbon finance and community-led governance, the case studies show that protecting mangroves requires strong policies, inclusive governance, sustainable financing, and long-term commitment.

Nature is not a photo prop! 🚫🌊

This video shows the sad reality on beaches. A man was throwing starfish out of the water just because they annoyed him, and families are pulling them onto the shore for photos. Taking a starfish out of the water and into the air literally kills it.I tried to reason with them, but human stupidity combined with ego simply knows no bounds. Arguments didn't help. 💔

@savephseas @wwfphilippines @marineconservationphilippines @denrofficial – Please help raise awareness about respecting marine life in the Philippines. 🇵🇭 Reefs and sea stars are not photo props!

The Global Mangrove Alliance Philippines (GMAP) welcomes the Congressional inquiry into the @denrofficial Memorandum on mangrove earth-balling and relocation.

This is an important opportunity to ensure that policies affecting our mangroves are grounded in science, uphold environmental laws, and protect the communities that depend on these vital ecosystems. We call for a transparent, science-based, and participatory review to ensure that mangrove conservation remains at the heart of sustainable development.
