Building a future where Filipinos live in harmony with nature
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
What do a green sea turtle and a tiger have in common? 🐢🐅

Both are showing what’s possible when people work together for nature.

Their comebacks took decades. The challenges aren’t over, but progress is possible.

That’s hope in action for #OurLivingPlanet.

When presented with an opportunity to secure a brighter future, the onus is on us to act.

Centred on the theme “What we eat matters,” World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines’ (WWF-PH) Culinary Giving Series explores the undeniable link between our food systems and our ecosystems. As WWF-Philippines National Ambassador Mark Nelson notes, “Food security and conservation are inextricable.”

The campaign kicked off at Tatler Best 20 Restaurant Metiz, Makati City on October 1. Returning to his all-local philosophy, executive chef Stephan Duhesme demonstrated the incredible potential of Philippine ingredients—provided we actively nurture local food systems and empower our producers.

Every dinner directly supports WWF’s conservation initiatives. Ready to join the cause? Learn more about what @wwfphilippines does via wwf.org.ph.

It’s easy to love the Sierra Madre when it looks like this. The harder part is making sure it stays this way.

On Save Sierra Madre Day, we spent time in Angat, where forests help sustain one of the country’s most important watersheds. Around 97% of Metro Manila’s potable water comes from here, alongside ecosystems that support a rich mix of plant and animal life.

Through our Building Community Resilience to Natural Hazards (BCRN) Programme*, we’re working in Angat on forest restoration, agroforestry, sustainable livelihoods, and long-term financing.

Protecting the Sierra Madre can’t belong to one organisation, one community, or one day of the year.

If we depend on these forests, then what happens to them concerns all of us.

There’s still so much here worth protecting. So let’s keep paying attention, keep speaking up, and keep showing up for it. 💚

*The Building Community Resilience to Natural Hazards (BCRN) Programme is in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), anchored by funding from the UAE Aid Agency, and hosted by Emirates Nature-WWF. by @wwfphilippines

We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our Pandas, Daisy “Ate Day” Salgado.

Ate Day was with WWF-Philippines from 1998 to 2001, working on the ResMob, Sulu Sulawesi Marine Ecoregion Program, Turtle Islands, and Tubbataha projects. But for those who knew her, she is remembered for much more than the work she did: her deep love for nature, heart for service, and adventurous spirit.

Ria Apostol, our former Vice President for Sustainable Production, knew Ate Day for nearly three decades. They eventually worked together on the Turtle Islands Project in Tawi-Tawi, where Ate Day spent weeks, sometimes months, living on the islands as Livelihood Officer.

“I knew she went through some tough times out there, but she always pushed through and overcame them. And I really honor Daisy for that.

I also learned so much from her. Her sheer commitment, passion, and heart for service were truly inspiring. Plus, her adventurous spirit and genuine love for life, travel, and people.”

For Maye, our Environmental Education Unit Officer, Ate Day was one of the first people who made WWF feel a little more real. They met through Lingkod ng Panginoon while Ate Day was still with WWF. When she discovered their shared passion for the environment, she invited Maye to become a WWF member.

WWF was a dream for Maye then, and she never imagined she would one day work here herself. She still remembers the WWF membership card Ate Day gave her, a little piece of WWF history and a reminder of where that journey began.

Hindi man sila nagkasabay sa WWF but they continued to cross paths through different environmental campaigns and initiatives. Ate Day was a mountaineer, diver, biker, and environmental advocate — always finding an adventure and a way to stay close to nature.

We are grateful to have known her, and to have crossed paths with her along the way.

You will be dearly missed, Ate Day. by @wwfphilippines

A few highlights from #WWFGamersClimateCamp! 🌍🎮

Creators came together to learn, share, and explore how gaming communities can be part of the climate conversation — and how they can use their platforms to inspire action.

The camp may be over, but the conversation continues. Time to #PressStartforEarth 🌱 by @wwfphilippines

Nature is where all the wealth of our country originates. And yet the state of the natural resources barely received a mention from the State of the Nation Address.
