Did you know you can grow your own delicious mushrooms at home?

Join James Scrivens from Coed Talylan for a practical introduction to growing your own oyster mushrooms at home. Oyster mushrooms are one of the easiest mushrooms to cultivate, making them a great place to start for beginners.

The workshop will take place 11am-12noon on Sunday 4th Oct at Salem Chapel, Bell Bank, Hay-on-Wye, HR3 5AQ

(Thanks Pete and Cori for use of the lovely space!)

My recent Sun and Moon art duo is for the first time showing at The Wye Valley yoga centre, another jewel in the crown of Hay-on-Wye, on the Welsh-English border: @wyevalleyyoga

It is a conducive and spacious environment for these new works, which sit comfortably with the reception’s tasteful interior and colour palette. But more importantly, as the Sun and Moon are upheld as precious icons in India and Tibet, they each hold auspicious and significant meaning for Buddhist and Hindu practitioners. As indeed they are for other cultures worldwide.

The frames were carefully chosen for their maximally minimal aesthetic and, as a very special favour, assembled with great skill and patience by Louie English: @englishoutdoors

... and if you didn’t know already, I am personally leading sitting meditation from 5 - 6 pm every Tuesday in the Yoga studio - which holds a blissfully peaceful atmosphere. All are welcome.

Summer 2026 part 3 🦎

Wow it’s been a hot one (climate change anxiety through the roof, I won’t lie 🙃).

I do love the sun - if you know me, you know, but this summer has been intense, far from normal & v worrying I can’t ignore.

In other summer news, I also snatched 60kg, yay! Visited friends 💛 and celebrated pending arrivals 👶🫶!

Over and out summer 2026 🌞

🌟 Restorative Yoga this weekend at Salem Chapel Hay on Wye 🌟
Saturday 10am - 11.30 &
Sunday 9am - 10.15 ❤️🙏❤️

“Restorative yoga is not about indulgence or laziness. It is intentional, precise, and profoundly structured. It uses props—bolsters, blankets, ropes—not to remove effort, but to direct awareness, deepen alignment, and allow the body and mind to truly settle. In these moments of supported stillness, we cultivate a presence that becomes impossible to find in busyness or distraction”.

"ACTION IS MOVEMENT WITH INTELLIGENCE. THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH MOVEMENT. WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS IS MORE CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT, MORE ACTION."
BKS IYENGAR 💜🙏💜

The use of ropes for yoga was introduced by B.K.S. Iyengar, he writes “Yoga Kurunta is a method in which one learns to manipulate one’s own body in various yoga postures by means of a suspended rope as if one were a puppet”

Practising Yogāsanas with the aid of a rope provides many advantages. Difficult āsanas can be held with ease and longer. As practitioners we can move from the known to the unknown where a deeper freedom can be experienced via the body for the mind
