The pros of putting yourself out there and asking for what you want — whether that’s a podcast guest invite, writing an article for sizzling hot new publication, speaking on industry-renowned panels, or just asking someone to go on a walk and get an iced vanilla latte with oat milk tg — FAR outweigh the cons. and that’s the goddamn truth.

Everything you want is on the other side of a well-intentioned ask.

That’s why I teach this now. I refuse to watch another person live life in the passenger seat, opportunities floating right by them instead of grabbing a lasso and wrangling them in 🐎

OKAY HI FIRST POST. I’ve worked in socials for almost fifteen effing years and have yet to discover a more graceful way of saying “welcome to my new account” than simply:

WELCOME TO MY NEW ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!

there is something both so liberating and deeply deeply deeply terrifying about starting fresh — and I do say *fresh* on purpose, because “from scratch” would be a lie.

an empty feed yes, but an empty community no.

I’m not starting from scratch, I’m starting with support. I’m starting with a group of humans who have seen me through so many seasons under one roof (@xanthe.appleyard), and the trust we’ve built there is carrying over into @xaanth.

although it feels like compared to the SIZE of my other account we’ve got a long way to go (like only 43,000 no biggie) I’m choosing not to see it that way.

I’m choosing to see this as the absolute BEST position any creator can be in: kicking off a new era with the coolest, coziest collection of people who already trust me. an intimate room full of folks who know exactly what they signed up for.

here’s what you’re signing up for, btw:

+ lots of aesthetic but VERY simple-to-whip-up food fixations
+ a fashion diary-ish while I find my style in real-time
+ travel (often solo!!), ft. places to eat + shop + stay and such
+ our loft by the sea in barcelona as we make it feel like home
