Merry whatever today means to you. 🖤

It means gratitude and humility for me. I am so grateful for the paths I've been set to blaze, the treasures of enlightenment, compassion and friendship, and the widening of a lense that was so clouded before. It means accepting the love that you deserve.

I am grateful for the joy that these people, and many who are not pictured, bring to my little ol' life.

I love you all.

I truly owe it to everyone and everything that reminds me what life really means.

Love.

This was one of the most important moments of my life.

Without getting into the nitty gritty, let me tell you a little background about me.
I was born in Mexico, my beautiful mother, an American, and my beautiful father, a Mexican. Unfortunate events happened that separated my mom, sister, and I from my father and his wonderfully huge family, and I grew up without knowing any of them. This is something that I used to harbor resentment for. But now, I have understanding and compassion for it.

My father, Ricardo Murguia, passed away in 2017, leaving the legacy of him singing for Toy Story and other Disney movies in Spanish, his music scores, and his performances. He was truly an icon for many countries, especially Mexico. Unfortunately, my sister and I were not able to meet him before he passed. I've had holes in my heart since I can remember because of his absence.

But, something amazing has been happening. I've been meeting my Murguia family over the years as an adult.
And this is the first time meeting some of them, and being with them for a holiday- my tío and tía Pato and Lupita and their beautiful children Ximena, Mariano, and Valentina, Ximena's son Carlo, and my tia Laura.
One by one, the holes in my heart are being filled, my culture of being Mexican is becoming more and more a part of my identity, my history in pictures and videos of everyone together, and feeling the love of a big family for the first time in my life. Experiencing their love and realizing we are waaayyy more similar than we are different. Almost like I've known them this whole time. Plus, I'm learning Spanish.

I have nothing but gratitude and love. I harbor no resentment, no hate or guilt. I'm happy. I'm really, really happy. And I hold only love for my family, my siblings, my mother, and my father. This was the first of many experiences I will share with my familia, and I'm excited to meet the rest of them. I've missed them all my life.

Thank you, my blood, my truths. You have made my heart fly with your love and acceptance, passion, and compassion. Here's to many more occasions with you.
Saludé.
See you soon.

Te quiero mucho. 💕
