POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Back in August, @victorialoosearrow approached me and three other photographers about collaborating on a fashion / identity photo project based on specific color palettes and locations she was envisioning.

Our specific shoot was neighborhood-inspired and took place in Westwood.

You can see images from our shoot on display now at the Cosmic Studio at the @denverartmuseum, along with new work from fellow, amazing artists @b.vrgs, @snapshotlopes, @sydonneblake.photo and Hannah herself. Shouts to @xencs333 on the photo and jewelry assist.

Here’s some of our photos that made it into the exhibit and some that didn’t.

Hannah will be connecting with visitors at the DAM the next four Saturdays, 12pm-3pm. I’ll be there with the homies tomorrow at 1:30pm. Drop by and say hey #theyshootn

Latine Futures - Westwood Stories

Maybe you’ve seen us out and about the past few weeks at events in Westwood, with the blue photo backdrop, taking pics of the people who make the neighborhood come to life. Over the upcoming weeks, you can catch us at more events, taking more portraits, capturing more stories for a pretty cool project.

The pics and videos we capture will become Westwood Stories, a series of street sign installations that bring Morrison Road to life with the local voices of Southwest Denver.

So, today, we’re sharing a selection of the people and pics we’ve snapped over the past few weeks. Some of these photos will come to life as poster-sized street signs and will be on display in early November.

✨THANK YOU✨

@councilwomantorres and @councilwoman_sgg for bringing forward the proclamation honoring Cultura Chocolate’s 10-year anniversary, and to the @denverlibrary for recognizing me as a Líderes de Oro Hall of Fame honoree at the Latino Community Service Awards.

These past couple of weeks have been a lot to process, but I’m so incredibly grateful for both recognitions and for all the people who have been part of this journey. Ten years ago, I never imagined where Cultura would take me or how much becoming part of Westwood would change my life.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of these ten years and continues to show up, support, challenge, and grow alongside me.

Also, I’m pretty sure there are more photos of me in this post than I’ve shared in the past ten years combined haha 😂 But I also want to acknowledge and thank the other people in these photos. Thank you to @missdaisyrv @xencs333 @_timhernandez and my mom for being there to celebrate these recognitions with me. And congratulations to my fellow community leaders @xicana_culinary_journey_13 @lemonpie98 and my ride or die Marianna @mexica_mari @in_lakech_denver_arts it’s an honor to be celebrated alongside you all! 🤎

IN IXTLI IN YOLOTL

In Nahuatl this means “Face and Heart,” symbolizes the concept of personality, that which is unique to humankind.

Because human beings are born without a defined face and heart. We develop our faces over time, we build it with the wisdom of knowing oneself, through experience, through struggle & through joy.

Thank you to all the artists who participated in the first show I curated! I am so appreciative and blessed to have you all participate. I look up to all of you as artists thank you. 🫶🏼

Thank you to @ehecatl_metzli for giving me this beautiful opportunity, thank you for your patience and support. I will always appreciate you hermana🩷

Thank you to my students and @in_lakech_denver_arts I am so forever blessed and grateful to be an instructor, these kids worked so hard to make their projects come to life and they are all so talented. They are our future and they assure me it will be bright🩷

Thank you to my husband Saul who always supports me and helped a huge amount with this exhibit, I love you so much and I am so blessed to have a partner like you. I couldn’t have done it without you @saul_9449 🩷

Thank you to everyone who has came to see it and has supported a huge amount 🩷

This was a dream come true, almost like a portal into my mind with all of this beautiful work.

Abundance and blessings,
Aalycia
