Apparently, getting attacked by the neighbor’s cat was Jack’s final straw. 🐈‍⬛🚨

He promptly requested that we change the locks, tighten security, and take this household’s safety a little more seriously. Naturally, we obliged. 😂

Of course, dog dad insisted that Mom, Jack, and Harlow all be present for the installation to keep him company. All three of us dutifully gathered to watch a grown man change a door lock. It took him about 30 minutes, and we’re fairly certain he just wanted an audience to remind us how handy he is. 🤣🔧

We’ve actually been Yale Home fans for years! Our previous Yale lock was Bluetooth-only, and we absolutely loved it. But we’d been wanting to upgrade to Wi-Fi and Apple Home Key for a while, so when Jack brought his security concerns to management, we figured it was time to just do the dang thing. 😉

All jokes aside, we genuinely LOVE our Yale locks. Keyless entry is one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it. Especially when you’re juggling a dog leash, groceries, a baby… or all three. 🫠

Another favorite feature? Being able to give visitors their own entry codes! That came in especially handy last year when I went into labor and needed family to be able to get into our house without us being there.

If you’ve ever considered upgrading to a smart lock, consider this our official 10/10 recommendation. We were already happy Yale customers before this upgrade, and we’re even happier now! 🙌

Little by little, Desert Retreat is coming together! 🤎

This week’s project was turning a corner of our bonus room into a cozy little hangout spot.

Two leather butterfly chairs, a cowhide rug, a funky coffee table, and a scrabble board to tie it all together.

One of our favorite parts of renovating this 1923 mining-town home in Pioche, Nevada, has been figuring out how to bring in some wild west character while making every space feel comfortable and inviting.

We’re getting closer to welcoming our first guests, and it’s finally starting to come together!

Are you still hiding a key in that fake rock?
