𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭.

A few weeks ago, I returned to Oba-Oke and Oba-Ile, where I did my PHC posting in 2025, this time as part of the YALI Osun medical outreach.

As @yalinetworkosun Program Officer, I worked across teams, coordinating volunteers and participants, procuring some materials, and ensuring proper documentation and storage of records.

We provided services including TB screening and testing, HIV counselling and testing, malaria screening, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and nutrition education.

HIV testing and counselling stood out for me. It's an area I'm particularly interested in, and the pre-outreach training with ECEWS on HIV testing and documentation gave me the opportunity to apply what I had learned. I also got to document some cases.

I'm grateful to have returned to these communities in a different capacity and to keep learning and contributing to public health.

Serving as the Financial Secretary, YALI Osun State @yalinetworkosun 2026–2027 administration has been a beautiful learning experience.

Facilitating our healthcare outreach to an underserved community, with the goal of reaching 1,000 community members, taught me the true meaning of hard work, resilience, dedication and finding people who believe in your vision.

I’m also proud that OAM Foundation @_oamfoundation could support the outreach by volunteering and helping provide healthcare access for children in the community.

Grateful for the opportunity to serve, learn and create impact.

Standing in the Gap, Changing the Stories 💙

The Atti Theresa Foundation (ATF) was honoured to be invited to Osun State as a technical partner with YALI Osun State Chapter for a free community medical outreach.

Together, we brought quality healthcare directly to the people:

🩺 General Consultation
👁️ Eye Care Consultation, with prescription glasses delivered to those who needed them
🦷 Dental Care, including scaling and polishing
💊 Pharmaceutical Services : Counseling and Prescription

Other partners also provided Health eduction and extensive laboratory investigations and screening, including Tuberculosis screening, widening the reach of care for everyone who turned up.

A heartfelt thank you to YALI Osun State for the invitation and trust, and to our incredible volunteers who gave their time, energy and skills to make this outreach a success. You are the heartbeat of this work. 🙏🏾

Every consultation, every pair of glasses, every smile restored is a story being rewritten. We are standing in the gap, changing the stories.

Bringing healthcare closer to the people 🩵🩺

Yesterday at the YALI Outreach, we helped make basic healthcare more accessible to people in the community, bringing essential health services closer to those who may not always have easy access to them.

From registration, BP checks, dental checks, HIV and hepatitis screening, blood glucose checks, to doctor consultations, it was a day centred around prevention, early detection and health education.

A beautiful reminder that healthcare should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live. 🫶🏽
Vlog coming soon 🤭

Yesterday was honestly a day I won't forget anytime soon. ❤️
We went for a community health outreach at Oba-Oke and Oba-Ile, where we carried out community mobilization, health education, counselling, vital signs checks, TB screening, dental checks, oral health education, tooth polishing, medication distribution, HIV screening and referrals.

But let me talk about my own experience because this one really made me happy. 😂

At first, I was assigned to documentation, and I was honestly fine with it because I wasn't sure I was confident enough to actually do the HIV screening after our training.

But something just told me, You didn't come here just to document. You came to learn.

So I decided to step out of my comfort zone and join the people doing the HIV screening under supervision.
The first one? 😭 I was like, “Okayyy, do I actually know what I'm doing?” 😂
I watched the person beside me, paid attention to every step, and after the first few, I started getting the hang of it.

I ended up screening several people, and I was genuinely proud of myself because something I was initially unsure about became something I could confidently participate in.

Some screening results were reactive and the individuals were referred appropriately for further testing and care, while others were non-reactive. It also reminded me why confidentiality is so important when dealing with people's health information.
Yesterday taught me that sometimes you just have to be willing to try.
I could have stayed with documentation throughout the outreach, but I chose to learn something new and actually apply what I had been taught.

And that feeling when your senior says, “You're going to do this,” and you actually do it? 🥹❤️

Big win for me.

And the journey back? 😂 We waited until around 7 p.m. for our bus, and I was already thinking, “Ah, so I'm travelling back to Osogbo at night?” 😭 But thankfully, the people I was with made the journey so fun that I almost forgot I was initially scared.

A day of service, learning, practical experience and growth. ❤️ @Yaliosun

Healthy Communities, Brighter Futures 🌍

I was privileged to be part of the Healthy Communities, Brighter Futures – Free Community Health Outreach held on Saturday, 3rd October 2026, in Oba-Oke & Oba-Ile, Osun State, as a member of the Media Unit.

It was a fulfilling experience documenting the outreach, capturing meaningful moments, and witnessing different organizations, health professionals, volunteers, and community stakeholders come together to promote better health.

For me, Healthy Communities, Brighter Futures represents more than an outreach. It is about bringing healthcare closer to people, promoting prevention and health education, encouraging community participation, and creating an environment where everyone has a better opportunity to live a healthy life.

As a Public Health student, being part of this experience reminded me that public health is not only about what happens in the classroom or hospital—it is also about meeting people in their communities and being part of solutions that improve their everyday lives.

Grateful for the opportunity to serve, learn, connect, and contribute. 📸🩺

Healthy communities today. Brighter futures tomorrow. 💙
