This one is something truly special. A proper one-off.

We are INCREDIBLY excited to welcome internationally acclaimed artist Kate Tume @mother_eagle_arts to Weird Worthing Folk Fringe for a pop-up exhibition and conversation about her extraordinary Death Masks ✨

Visually arresting, technically astonishing and deeply affecting, this is a remarkable body of work, born of extraordinary craftsmanship, intimate exploration and a profound engagement with death and what it means to be human. This is certainly a first for Worthing, and an exceptionally rare opportunity to experience it up close, in Kate’s hometown, at everybody’s favourite local taproom.

Nothing quite like this has happened here before. And who knows when it will again.

If you’re interested in textiles, masks, death, art, folklore, or just really bloody interesting things happening right under your nose, THIS IS FOR YOU.

FRIDAY 30 OCTOBER
Yard by Hand, Worthing @yardbyhand

Exhibition: 6.30–9pm

KATE TUME: DEATH MASKS

This one is really special ✨

On Friday 30 October, we’re bringing the extraordinary work of Kate Tume @mother_eagle_arts to Worthing for a one-night-only pop-up exhibition and conversation at the beautiful Yard by Hand.

Kate doesn’t often exhibit her work in Worthing, and the opportunity to see these remarkable objects up close is something we’re genuinely thrilled to be able to share.

These are no ordinary masks. Intricately constructed, deeply symbolic, strange, beautiful and sometimes unsettling, they sit somewhere between visionary art, folklore and magical objects of devotion.

And there’s more.

We’ll be joined by Kate in conversation with Richard Manders, exploring the processes, inspirations and experiences behind her work, and her relationship with death, grief, ritual and the objects we create to make sense of it all.

It’s a rare chance not only to experience the work in person, but to hear directly from the artist about the world from which it emerges. All of this in the wonderful surroundings of Yard by Hand, complete with those magnificent pink tigers.

We’re incredibly excited about this collaboration. It’s exactly the sort of unusual, unexpected thing we hoped might just happen when @weird.worthing.folk.fringe was a seed of an idea.

🎟️ Tickets available now - £3 booking details in bio🔗

One important thing: tickets are intentionally priced low, as this is a beautiful and rare opportunity and we want it to be accessible to as many people as possible. We don’t want the price of a ticket to prevent anyone from experiencing something like this, so I f the cost is a barrier, please get in touch with us directly via DM, and we’ll discreetly make arrangements.
