"Wanderers On Earth ⋆˚🌏 ࿔*:･ﾟ♡ – The journey of finding one’s self.

Chapter 2: Wanderer Of The City 🏙️

The beginning of a journey to finding one’s self. A state of awakening.

People dream of moving to a big city, people thrive in these fast-paced environments and enjoy the busyness of it all. However, many also become overwhelmed and lose sight of themselves. Others dream of moving away from the city, to live someplace peaceful and curate a more meaningful and consciously slow lifestyle. Personally, I think being stuck in the city for so long can jeopardise our values and outlook on life, we get so used to devoting ourselves to a culture of hustle and prioritising success over wellbeing when really, there’s more to life than all this.

In the state of awakening, also known as nirvana, we become more aware of our individual selves and our connections to life. Coming out of the box and that altered state of consciousness, instead of dreaming about what could be out there, why not start the journey and see it for ourselves? To start an adventure in life and wander the earth, to spark a light in the midst of the darkness. This is the starting point of finding our true identity and learning about our core values.
.
On @yelloria_ , you can see how the final images showcase the start of a journey and a state of awakening, finding the courage and enthusiasm to make a path and wander the earth. To be lost yet going in the right direction. In the darkness, we will find the way for ourselves and what lies ahead. "

Puerto Princesa’s one and only kitschy farmgirl village princess ! ‘Bukid’ meaning ‘Farm’ in the Filipino language, this shoot is of a character I have created inspired by my Filipino family’s background of farming culture and province lifestyle. Isla Dalisay Valmorida loves all things cute, pastel and kitsch, dressing over the top for everything with various upcycled pieces in her wardrobe and she works at her family’s farm in Puerto Princesa, Palawan in the Philippines. 👩🏼‍🌾🐓🌾🇵🇭

Selfridges SuperFutures Brief @theofficialselfridges

The future of cities:
'SuperColourful Urban Plantasy' 🌈🌳🌸🏙️🪲💐💖🦋

I was inspired by my upbringing and natural love for colour, my Filipino family originate from the island of Bohol in Philippines which is very tropical and has endless beautiful green landscapes. It’s also normal to paint your houses different colours in the Philippines which is why I think I’ve always loved the look of coloured houses or buildings - this is obviously different from here in the UK where everything is just full of concrete and bricks in dull greys and browns. It’s even been proven that urban living has a negative impact on mental and physical health with higher risk of developing depression and anxiety…I have felt these effects of living in the city but when I go back to Bohol, everything feels so much brighter and peaceful.

Through my concept, I want to bring the island to the city through the form of a flower and its colourful energy. Creating a super colourful urban plantasy full of multi-coloured biodiverse buildings, green spaces and colourful flowers, co-existing with all creatures and animals in peace and harmony. Everyone and the earth have finally healed from the dark industrial times of destruction and oppression, now thriving in full colour, freedom and life. The flowers carry a sense of love, happiness and hope, and the vibrant colours carry a sense of energy bringing positivity and joy to the city. Together, they form as one energy source spreading love, light and positivity everywhere.

I like to use my creativity as a childlike colourful escape from reality and the darkness of the world which is how I came up with this concept, it’s like spreading all the love, joy, positivity, light, colour and energy that the world needs as well as creating my own plantasy world where we can finally live in green sustainable cities full of life and colour. 🥹💖
